Hello STR. I need a pocket put on a Jeff Hall folder. One of his early ones. Doesn't have one now. Don't want a low rider clip but something that would allow about a .5" of knife or so to stick out of my pocket. Let me know the drill and I'll take care of whatever you need from me on my end. Thanks man and keepem sharp

The older I get the more I am trying to get away from drilling and threading. Anymore I'm trying when possible to stick with using existing factory holes. I'm very hesitant to modify another makers knife. I am not familiar with the model or the maker which means I have no idea of how it is made, what materials the liners if any are made of, whether it is a slip joint or a locking folder, traditional or modern or what so without pictures and learning more I cannot help much. Depending on material I may not even want to tackle it so we'll just have to see. Post some pictures and more details and we'll go from there. Thanks

Ok no worries I'll just get the stuff myself. I have some extra clips and such lying around, I figure I work on my scoot I can work on this. keepem sharp

I am going to hi jack this thread if you dont mind and ask STR for a pocket clip. It is for my Kershaw LFK 1700, it doesnt come with a pocket clip, but I really need one:) I wanted to get pretty much an exact copy of a chris reeve style clip, counter sunk, and mounted to the lanyard hole with a single screw. id like the single mounting screw to fasten through the lanyard hole like how the pivot screw goes through to the other side fastened to a flush rivet nut (as seen on mock up pic). i hope i explained well enough! and i hope youre not too hesitant to do a little counter sinking? the handles are made from aluminum. if this job seems too much for you then please recommend something! thanks

Just as easy to start your own thread as to hijack an old one. I need new ones to keep this place lively anyways.

Anyway, no issue really making a clip that would fit on there. I don't bend my clips like Chris or Sal or anyone else. What I offer is all me done uniquely my way but I can come up with a close shape that is similar. I will not bend my clips the way Sal does as that is his own IP as far as I'm concerned. While I don't give Sal credit for the pocket clip invention per say since Waterman pen actually owns that IP I do give him credit for the unique way he put tension on them to secure them to the pocket for the knife application. Chris does things his way also, which if you note is done different even still than Sal and only if I had their blessing would I duplicate exactly what they do. That's why I bend my own the way I do and do low riders mostly since these were not offered by anyone really back when I started doing these over 13 years ago now when I did my first fold over style clip out of 410 stainless steel. No one even knew how to bend a fold over when I started. I had to make it up as I went. Now you see others being done just like them all over so anyway, I consider the low rider style clips done as I started doing them to be my thing you know. Something I did first on this level where it was being repeated over and over.

So to be clear. When folks say to me they want this clip bent this way or even when they don't say bent this way I want to be perfectly clear. I won't duplicate their unique way of bringing a clip to fruition. It has to be done my way with my bends to be mine or I simply won't do them since I don't have permission from anyone doing it other ways and would feel like I am stealing if I did them that way. Hope that makes sense.

Short answer. Go here. http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...w-Rider-Pocket-Clip-info-mailing-instructions follow the form questions and get the answers to me by using your key pad to fill out the form, print it off, wrap it up with your folder and when I get them here I'll do the rest and get it back to you. Price is $36 shipped back and I will have to void your warranty to do this so we are clear on that. Drilling two holes in the aluminum sides will eliminate any further warranty coverage and I will have to thread those and then secure the clip for you. If you do not want a low rider specify that on the form and I'll know anything you need to share with me by having that with me once I get the folder.

If not thanks for asking

i understand, and im fine with you making it your way. although i do not want a low rider and i wanted you to use the lanyard hole and use a single screw to fasten instead of drilling two new holes to mount the clip. below i hope helps illustrate what i mean and i hope it doesnt conflict with what you already explained.

below is a pic showing the lanyard hole used to mount the pocket clip recessed/counter-sunk in to the frame with a single hex screw. thanks!
