pocket clip on the aegis

I just bought my first Sog knife. It is the Aegis in Black Tini.
After watching nutnfancy's review of the knife on youtube but owning kershaw, buck, and various other brands I decided to try a Sog.
There are a few that rave about the pocket clip on the flash and aegis series knives as being the best in the business. Well... on mine right after pulling it out of the box i really had to push down hard to get it over the lip of my jean pocket and once it was in it took two hands and alot of fiddling to get it back out. This is one stiff clip. I am really surprised at this although i kind of expected i wouldn't have much to grab since it sinks so low in the pocket. The biggest problem with this design is that even if the pocket clip were looser when you go to pull the knife out it's a natural thing to thumb it inside the pocket and index finger the clip which you end up pushing down on and that alone makes it a bit more difficult to extract it.
So i really differ with nutnfancy and think that having a little of the knife protruding isn't such a bad idea.
Anyone else with the aegis thats had to bend the clip out a bit or has it loosened with time ? I am looking forward to using this knife though.

thanks,
sean

Hey Sean,

When I first purchased my Aegis I had somewhat of the same problem. After first using it out of the box I switched the pocket clip for lefty carry because I am a lefty. As soon as I did that I found it easier but still a little difficult. What I found works great is when taking it out of your pocket to use your index finger and pull up on the clip releasing it from the pocket. It does feel a little funky at first but you get used to it. Also if you don't like that you can try unscrew the screw that secures the clip to the knife and tighten it to where you feel its easy enough to take out of your pocket with ease.

I agree don't just grab the handle, put your index finger under the clip and your thumb behind the handle and lift the clip. The knife will come out of your pocket easily.

I have a flash 2 that is my daily carry and after carrying it around for a while the clip "broke in" and is now much looser, but not too loose.

I just put my index finger under the end of the clip, pull up on it a little and put my thumb on the inside, end of the handle (where the clip goes into the end of the handle)

The more you use it, the more it will naturally loosen up.
