I was looking through my collection this morning, and realized all the differences in pocket clips. Alot have a more or less "generic" Spyderco or Benchmade version. While some clips are almost nicer than the actual knife its attached to. So, what are your Top 3?

Mine are:

1) Spyderco Lil' Temperance "SAL" clip
2) Crawford fileworked KFF clip
3) Emerson hourglass "skull" clip

The Elishewitz "bug wing" clip and the clips William Henry uses on the CF series make nice earrings for your wife of girlfriend once they have been properly removed from the knife.

I like Emerson clips the best-even got one on my Apogee, and the clip CRK uses on the Sebenza because it's unobtrusive but secure. I really like these two because, despite the fact that they look very different, they both hold the knife securely, and are comfortable in the hand.
Benchmade and Spyderco clips are good, too, I just don't like them quite as much as the above...

My ultimate clip, say for the BM710, would be one that wraps over the top/end of the handle then runs down the other side thus allowing the lowest possible profile in the pocket. In other words, the clip starts on the "back" side of knife and flows over to the front side. Is this a stupid concept?

There are knife clips like that. Al Mar Sere 2k comes to mind. I think Sog has one too. Maybe Schrade too?

The flush clips on Outdoor Edge's production versions of Kit Carson Magna and Darrell Ralph's Impulse.

No clips better.

Tommy Hawk: the SERE 2000 clip is exactly what you just described, and just happens to be my favorite clip by far. It is EXTREMELY sturdy, and facilitates the lowest carry possible. It might add too much thickness to the knife for some people's taste but not mine :)

holy crap that is a stout looking folder (the sere 2k)

i like the clip on my kershaw vapor it is a stainless skelitonized low profile clip mounted in the center of the handle, i hardly notice its there when holding the knife and it really grabs my pocket

Thanks for the pic, Uranium. Its a nice design but only for tip up and the knife requires a steel spacer at the bottom. The EDI design acheives as deep carry with either end down in the conventional manner but I would guess that they patented it or it would be copied.

I too like deep carry.

I said it was my favorite clip, not that I like tip up carry :)
Fortunately the SERE has a really firm detent and the thumbstuds are very close to the pivot so I have never had any trouble with it opening in pocket.
I think Darrel Ralph is using EDI style clips on the Mad Maxx knives? I fell in love with that knife the other day.

My favorite clip is no clip at all. I got tired of bending clips, and tearing things up with them. Besides, the knife feels better without the clip.

One of the custom makers on this forum made this custom clip for my EDC knife about 2 years ago and it's the best I've ever used, been carrying it everyday since. It sits as low as is possible in the pocket yet is easily accessible. I dont mention his name because he'd rather I didn't(no, it was not Bob T).

The EDI Genesis has a great clip. But I have gotten very used to the Benchmade/Emerson types...........wolf

For me none. I have never handled a knife that felt better with the clip on than it did with the clip removed.

The drop shaped clip of the BM 690 Elishewitz cause it doesn't look like a knife clip.
