Anyone know the best way to put one on a knife without one? Or can anyone here offering knife services do that?
Just wondering. If I tried to do it, I'd probably destroy the knife.
Thanks.

My mind flashed to traditionals when you said that. So may I suggest a pocket sheath? Some are magnetic and some have pre-mounted clips...this way you domt wreck your knife (handle). Its kind if a one-size fits all.

It's not an uncommon modification. Typically it involves drilling and tapping holes in a bolster. But a lot depends on the design of the knife. Does it have bolsters? Is there enough bolster material? Are the bolsters flat to provide a flat surface for mounting the clip? Etc.

Sometimes it's possible to drill and tap liners, if they're thick enough. But if they are hardened steel or titanium the task could prove far more difficult (and expensive).

I know that there are members here that perform such mods. You might search the "Maintenance , Tinkering, & Embellishment" sub-forum as well as the "Services Wanted" sub-forum which you can find here- https://www.bladeforums.com/forums/the-custom-shop-services-offered.870/

I also know of a way to attach a clip to a folder without the need for tapping, but without knowing the type of knife I don't know if it would work for you.

get a suspension clip if the knife has a bail or lanyard hole through the scales.
use cord if split rings are not the right fit.

Those suspension clips are pretty sweet, but if that doesn't work to your liking we can probably figure out a way to jam a pocket clip on whatever you have😉👍

If buying these clips be sure to buy the ones made by Tec, as shown in GIRLYmann's link. The cheaper copies, that abound on the big river site and other places, bend out of shape easily, and do not hold well. The ones made by Tec are durable and work well.

Yeah I'd like to add a clip to my Viper Novis, suspension clip just doesn't work well with it.
