Is this normal for Spydercos or something Im not doing right to maintain them?

Mounting area seems normal, no visible damage there. What's the problem? Did the clips fall off? Did they bend? Did you remove them for some reason?

Other than the clips not being there they both look normal to me.

No offense, but I can't imagine myself being that inattentive. The clips should have felt loose and started wiggling long before they fell off and even begun to move side to side before the barrel bolts dropped out. You can order replacements from Spyderco.

my natives clip got ripped off and stripped the threads while i worked at con-way. it got snagged on some freight and came off. i fixed it by going to ace and getting 2 allen head screws and an aluminum threaded collar (the hole is 1/4"). i had to trim the collar and screws but it works great, only downside for some people would be the lack of a lanyard hole. if you want i picture let me know.

Ill admit that I did notice that they came loose and did nothing about it but both werent carried very long before this happened has me thinking that I wont buy a Spyderco with this type of pocket clip again. I dont really want to deal with a clip I have to tighten up every couple weeks in fear of it falling off. Luckily the next Spyderco I have in mind doesnt have this kind of clip so all is not lost.

I have to decide if I want to replace the clip or not. Depending on the pants/shorts I wear I dont mind how it sits in my pocket without the clip other times it gets in the way.

I carried a third generation Endura like yours for over a year and never had to tighten the pocket clip once. After that I carried a Native and never had a clip problem.

A drop of blue Loctite will put an end to loose clips, and you can still remove it by applying heat.

For reference, I have destroyed the clip mounting surfaces on a couple of FRN Spydies, but it took rough treatment; the knives weathered it better than I did.

I have several Spydercos with the same type of clip and have never had any problems with them.

Never a problem with my Delica (not sure what generation it is, but it has the same type of clip). I've tightened it twice, maybe.....just a part of knife maintenance IMO.

My Delica's clip has been in a drawer for a few years. Do you want it (It's black)? I pocket carry my knives these days. Want it?

I carried a native for close to 5 years with that clip and never had it come off. You can tighten those screws with a coin. The new d4w clip is much more difficult to fix if they loosen up outside.

One of the knives I EDC is a D3 that has that clip. It has been on my person, up down and all around, for more than 10 years and I've never had it loosen. I've taken if off a couple of times and reattached it (use 2x 5-cent coins).

I bet you a dollar if you call Spyderco W&R they'll send you new ones gratis.
