Pocket clip question

I've got a small regular Sebenza en-route to me. It does not have a pocket clip with the knife. I was looking into ordering a new one from CRK, and I noticed on the website that you can either order a new clip or a clip insert. The insert is basically double the price of a clip. What is the insert for? Just to fill the empty space in case you dont want a clip? And, why is it so much higher than a clip?

yes, the insert fills the space where the clip would be. some people prefer to carry in a pouch or pocket and dont care for the empty space.

I think that they mill the insert out, where as the clip is stamped out and bent.

I'm probably wrong though.
