Pocket clip swings

I have a couple knives that the pocket clip swings side to side. My Spyderco Smock is the worst. The size to side has scratched a nice set of titanium scales. I have tried to tighten the screws and it still moves.
Is there a fix for this?

Looking at the Spyderco Smock it looks like the clip is polished steel. And the slick surface of the polished steel against titanium might be causing movement.

Here's something I might try- cut a piece of 320 or 400 grit sandpaper the same shape as the connecting surface of the clip, maybe just a bit smaller so the edges won't show, punch holes for the screws, then place the piece between the clip and the handle with the rough side facing up against the clip. This way there is something grippy between the polished clip and the handle to hold the clip securely in place.

I'm assuming the handle scale has some sort of texture, either a machined surface or a bead blasted finish that could grip onto the back side of the sand paper. You could also sand the contact area of the clip to rough it up and give it a more grippy surface.

I don't know if it would work, but like I said, it's something I might try. If you already have the sandpaper it wouldn't cost you anything, and it wouldn't alter or damage the clip or handle.

This is a great idea. I'd like to expand upon it a little. I have a little experience clamping smooth parts, such as carbon fiber and aluminum. I've tried abrasive products to improve friction. It works, but it also tends to scratch your parts. My go-to product is electrical friction tape. Some people use it to improve grip on sporting equipment handles. Anyway, it looks almost like vinyl electrical tape, except friction tape is made of cloth. It's not as sticky, either. But I think it might be the best choice for increasing the friction between the knife scales and clip.
