Pocket clips on small knives

Morning all! Hey, quick question for you all. Does anyone not use the pocket clip on their knives and just keep it in their pockets?

I may be in the minority here and it may just be because I don't have the expertise as you all have with knives, but I never use the pocket clips on my knives. I just ordered my 1st Spyderco the other day (wont have it for a couple weeks), the Native 5 because it looks like a beautiful knife, I like the reviews on it and it looks to be the perfect size for me. I tend to prefer carrying a smaller knife compared to larger ones. Maybe because I don't use pocket clips! ;)

All of my Para 3 knives have the clips removed. Extreamly comfortable in hand.
I also use a Victorinox soft nylon pouch on belt for carry.

I'm with you. No clips on most of my knives, even larger ones. There are a couple of exceptions: the Manix 2 is easier to close for me with clip, for some of my frame-locks (e.g. the Ti Military) the clip protects the lock, and - when using the knife in a sheath, the clip helps it not falling out.

They are "pocket knives" after all :), and the clip would (1) make the knife visible (why invite trouble?), and (2) bug me when keeping other stuff in the same pocket (car keys, etc.).

Roland.

Full disclosure, I've never worn the clip longer than a couple hours. I was thinking maybe it's something I need to force myself to do and after a while I'll break through that barrier and then be used to it. Also, the clips are still on all my knives, I just never use them. I don't have a good reason for keeping them on when I don't use them. Lazy maybe? ;)

I took the clip off my Dragonfly HAP40. I like to drop that one into the bottom of my pocket. It's like it's not even there. I'll probably do the same with the V-TOKU2 Dragonfly.

For larger knives (Native 5 & up) I usually leave the clip on so I can clip it to my pocket.

Only knives I carry without a clip are Ladybug sizes but that's with keys on a hook.

I do carry traditional knives loose in a pocket.

Even small stuff like the Dragonfly or the Meerkat I use the clip.

On more than a few knives, the pocket clip makes it much easier to one-hand open the knife.

Pocket clips will do a number on your pocket fabric. Since I was a business guy for years... having a knife clipped on you somewhere was not acceptable. I remove the clip from every Spyderco I have ever carried... making sure to keep the clip and the screws safely in a ziplock - in the box and put away. For more than 10 years I carried a Wegner Jr plain edge, it being a very big (read capable) small knife. Clips depend on your attire and the people you will be around... I spot a clipped on knife abut as fast as I spot a concealed carry piece on people I am near. Don't be ashamed to remove your clip - Just use a good screwdriver and KEEP ALL THE PIECES.

I use the clip in certain pants to keep the knife where I want it. I find small knives like the Pingo to work well when clipped to a cargo pocket for example. My roadie and manbug both have big lanyards to make sure I don't loose them.

I always use a clip (or sheath) when I can. Less likely to lose a knife that way.

However, you can always carry a knife in your pocket. No need to remove the clip to do so. Better to leave the clip on IMO, in case you need to use it for some other purpose. Shouldn't feel the clip against your thigh if you place it towards the outside of your pocket.

Sometimes I put knife straight in to a pocket. However I like to have a clip or a clip sheath. To be to be able to clip on my waistband or belt, when it might get in the way while doing a job.

I always carry in pocket without clipping it. My determination if the clip stays on or off is the ability to safely use the knife without
needing the clip for my fat fingers to get a hold. Just got the chaparral frn in the mail today, the texturing allows for a solid grip so that clip is off.

I clip small knives (3-inch or less blade length) to my pocket. My larger knives go in a sheath, which itself goes into my pocket to completely conceal the knife and also protect it from other things in my pocket. Usually I secure the knife to the sheath with the clip, unless it fits snugly without it. Either way the clip stays on.

Exactly, bro. Who really wants a knife sideways in their pocket anyway? Not me, since Sal's invention got me. Maybe some smaller knives sometimes, but the clip stays on.

Ive never removed a clip yet. I've considered it on the Dragonfly 2 but never convinced myself to go through with it.

I hate pocket clips and prefer to use knives without them as they’re a lot nicer feel-wise but with all the other stuff in my pockets it gets to be a bit much. So I use them. I should explore sheath options but I hate having stuff on my belt.

The FedEx man just dropped off my first Spyderco knife. The Native 5 G10. I'm really impressed with the fit and finish of this thing. This thing is beautiful. I love my Buck knives and will continue buying them, but this Spyderco is top notch right out of the box. Looks like more Bucks and now Syderco's are on my Christmas list.

Even with the clip on this thing its pretty minimal.

Hey Spyderco, can you make your blades a little less sharp? I'm kidding obviously. :p I already have my first boo boo. Total user error!
