So I'm thinking about changing out some Benchmade pocket clips. I love that they're all the same size and that BM sends em to you for free. What are all my options?

Also, what are opinions on them?
I've heard that the block ones provide better grip than the arrow ones. I've also heard that the oxidized ones are less noticeable.

Benchmade, as of now, only sends you pocket clips that the knife originally came with. I tried getting a DC clip and I couldn't. The oxidized ones are less shiny, hence the less noticeable appearance. I do wished BM sent out DC clips.. :/

I think a lot has to do with who you talk to up there. I prefer the old full size oxidised Benchmade USA marked clips, and then both oxide and silver split arrows, and as for the least favorite are those danged painted steel versions that chip and peel away over time. There are specific examples, like the deep pocket clip used on the 810 that will fit most models, and then there are the wider ones used on the 890, 740 and others.

But what's most important is, when and If ordering replacements to make sure you ask for the model specific clip due to the differing screw lengths...too short and the clip could strip out; too long and the blade can get scratched. Over time I've collected a small sack of assorted screws for projects, and boy do these come in handy!

Seems a lot of people are surprised when I mention that the Emerson clips are the same pattern as the Griptilians but it is the case. I tell folks wanting black clips to just buy an Emerson clip for their folder as that is a simple effective choice and a good clip better done than the ones BM offers anyway. So you have options. This clip pattern is the oldest in the industry, first introduced in the early 80s when Sal Glesser of Spyderco fame came up with it on his "ClipIt" line up of stainless steel folders. Due to being the oldest in use in the industry it is now everywhere. Its been used on many knives by Spyderco and I've seen it on any number of other folders with usually the only thing being different as the hole sizes drilled in it. For example the old Calypso Jr knife used this clip but the hole size is so small a 2-56 screw like that used in the Emerson would not go in it without first reaming the clip holes out to a slightly larger size. Otherwise tho, its the same clip as that used on all the others up until Spyderco started offering more options getting more creative with their pocket clips and designs as well as the knives. By the way the best BM clip I have is the one that came on my Mini Hardtail Harley Davidson folder built for that series by BM. Its my favorite axis lock folder and the clip is pretty bad a$$ in my opinion!

I talked to a lady named Whitney. She help me and answered every single question I could think of! She even retrieved my tracking number for me, because the shipping department failed to send me the email! They have amazing customer service at the very least. I sure like to see a deep carry clip more the 556!

The deep carry clip on the 810 Contego will fit the 556, just sayin. ;)

Well, 2 of the 3 holes at least...
