Pocket EDC w/o Pocket Clip?

I broke the pocket clip for my Spyderco Endura. I've been carrying it without the pocket clip, but it always ends up sideways in my pocket and uncomfortable. The same thing with my Case Trapper an Victorinox Super Tinker. Any tips for dealing with this and keeping the knives upright? Also, what is the best place to get a replacement clip for my Endura? Thanks.

I had pretty good luck with a CRK leather pouch for a small Seb I carried clipless for a bit. I know they make slip cases with clips too for slipjoints and such. Sometimes a good lanyard can help hold it upright, if the lanyard comes out of your pocket. The only other thing that I can think of that might work would be putting something bulky in your pocket that would "pin" the knife upright, like a wallet or something.

Or you could go for the belt pouch thing, and just keep it in there instead of a pocket.

Thanks maybe ill try putting a handkerchief in the same pocket to hold it up, I'd just have to get used to it.

I have heard of some folks sewing a vertical stich about an inch or so wide in the pocket. It makes a secondary pocket for the knife, keeps it vertical, and keeps it seperate from other things in the pocket like keys and coins.

I have enough stuff for the knives to not spin around in pocket. I know your problem though, very annoying. Contact spyderco for new clip.

For about $7 they will send (fast) you a new clip, screws and a small tube of Loctite blue.

Some dress pants I have came like this. I really like the feature.

I have never tried it but it sounds good. The Endura could still be clipped when the OP gets a new clip and it would solve the problem for the Trapper and Super Tinker as well.

Carry it in a small BM soft sheath and throw the clip away. Much harder to lose your knife....

I'll second the lanyard. The Endura is fairly long, so a very short lanyard (maybe 2 inches) will be enough to stick it out of your pocket, and it should stay upright.

Sticking a longer knife in your back pocket next to a wallet or handkerchief is very comfortable, too. I do it with a long SAK.

I think those smaller pockets within larger pockets are great for slipjoints like peanuts.

For my Wegner Evolution 10, I put a braided laynard on it, about 3in long. If I slip the knife to the rear of my front right pocket and keep the laynard on the outside, it stays in place pretty well. Otherwise, slip it in the coin pocket like I do for my Case Medium Stockman.

Most of my pants and slacks have a coin pocket sewn into the right pocket. I sometimes use that to hold a knife.

I'm a big fan of pocket clips. While I always carry a slippie deep in my one pocket which anymore is either my little D2 split back whittler made for me to my specs by Jerry Barlow or my Ken Coats EO jack (the first one Ken made with the EO) and have not had luck with a real preventive for the knife moving around in the pocket I can say that I do not particularly care for 'round' knives in my pocket because they just roll around down there all the time. I tend to prefer those made a bit flatter because they lay in the pocket well but even then it has to have some rounding off to reduce the chance of the knife working it's way out of the pocket. The old Gerber PK knives great as they were were famous for working their way through pocket seams causing owners to lose them. The heavy weight, non beveled edges and thin thin profile made for a bad recipe for a pocket knife but slap a clip on one and suddenly its a great knife even though by some standards it is taboo to clip a slippie.

When you stop to think about how many of us buy expensive knives and then trust that our $20 China made jean pockets are going to be just fine for it you wake up real quick to using either a good pocket sheath to insure longevity and as lint free use as possible or you opt for clipping the thing. Either way is better than losing the knife. I've been surprised at the thin flimsy feel of many pockets on supposedly higher quality pant wear also so one has to wonder how long they would hold up to a heavy thin metal object bouncing around all day on the seam. I know this knife nut has had his wife fix up custom pockets for many favorite pants that had that one flaw. I've bought Eddie Bauer and Wrangler jeans quite recently that had factory flawed pockets with little holes you could work your pinky through and this was new pants so be careful what you trust down there rolling around in them china pants guys!

You can order a new pocket clip from spyderco.

The only time I carry a knife without a pocket clip is if I am wearing pant (cargo / hiking pants) that have a special compact pocket, or if I am wearing dress pants that have the small change pocket within the actual pant pocket. Other than that, pocket clip is the way to go.

For those keeping it next to wallet, won't it fall an lay horizontal once wallet is out? I tried this, and every time have to reposition the knife. This is rear pocket by the way.

To OP, you can also make clip out of large paper clip. I did that to have deep carry. It won't be very tight due to weak metal, but in my case, it's more a hanger than clip, preventing the knife going it's way to the bottom.
