A BF member contacted me and asked if I would like to make him a special EDC small fixed blade pocket knife . He sent me his Ideas, thoughts, and specifications . My answer, you bet, the Idea and challenge intrigued me. After several e-mails back and forth, this is what we came up with .
O.A.L. is 5 7/8", blade is 2 3/8", with sharpened edge to plunge of 2 1/4". It is 3/16" ATS-34 for strength with a piercing/spear point for penetration if ever needed for self defense . Mammoth ivory scales , brick red liner, and pins of copper tube with a 303s.s. rod insert . I finished the hollow grind with a 15 micron belt , not quite a polish nor a dull satin .Next will be to finish the sheath he requested with a slim titanium money clip as the pocket clip which he found and sent me . my reflection distorted the look of the pin in one pic .
Hope all like what we came up with . thanks for looking .

Very nicely done! I really like that style of carry myself and it's great to see more options for it out there.

The project started out as an idea, and evolved into what you see here. The sheath design will incorporate a slim titanium money clip. The top of the sheath will be barely visible when looking at the pocket. The handle will protrude enough to grab the knife with two fingers. The goal is wear the pocket fixed blade in front pants pocket, but not be uncomfortable when sitting.

Jack maximized the handle length as much as possible to get the best grip possible on such a small knife. My normal cutting situations actually require a blade length of 2 inches or maybe less, so this knife should be very useful. The liners and pins were all Jacks idea, and I think they go very well with the color in the mammoth ivory.

If anyone is considering such a knife, I would highly recommend you ask Jack to take on the task. He also has a sense of humor after you get to know him through the e-mails. I have thoroughly enjoyed this project. This is the second knife Jack has made me, and the third (camphor burl hunter) is still on his bench.
