Pocket fixed blades: preferences?

I know there are several guys here that love pocket and smallish fixed blades for edc. I'm curious, how do you all feel about lanyard holes? Did the presence or lack thereof affect your purchase? After you carried it for a while do you wish it had one, or didn't have one as the case may be? Do you actually have a lanyard on it or do you just like the option or look?

Here's another one; what is your favorite handle material for a pocket fixed blade? How about blade shape? Okay, that was two questions. :)

Whew, lots of questions. Thanks for your opinions though. Got a lot of things bouncing around my head and I'd like to hear what other people think.

I have a slew of neck knives that I pocket carry. I really love micarta handles, though I have some with micarta, G10, various woods, and zytel as well.
I don't use lanyards on any of them, but then my carry method usually keeps me from needing one.
I say, if you like utility and strength in a knife, and easy clean up after messy jobs, pocket carry a fixed blade.
I rotate through my Blackjack 155, PML Witch's finger (PML is a vendor on the forum), Becker BK11 and BK14, various Izula and Izula II models, and my Candirus. All have served me well when I needed them, and once done, they slide neatly back into my pocket.

Most are 1095 carbon steel, though the 155 is 154CM and the Witch's finger is S30V I believe. Steel and blade shape are pure personal preferences though, so go with what you know and love.

There's also the Scrapivore for anyone who likes SR101.

I like a clip type blade shape as well as wharncliffe/modified Sheepsfoot for a fixed blade EDC. My Dozier K-36 Companion (CPM 154) has a G-10 handle on it. My Dozier Canoe (D-2) has a ironwood handle. Both are carried in Dozier's horizontal kydex sheath. These are the two I am more likely to carry with the Companion getting the most carry time. I have experimented carrying a Spyderco Moran (drop point) at a cross draw position as well. It works.

I have a BK24,and BK14,I carry them in a horizontal sheath at the front of my belt. No lanyards on either as the handles are sufficient for my hands. A small fixed blade is a remedy for stiff fingers deploying a folder. ;)

Interesting mix there to look through. I figured there would have been more people with opinions on the subject. Are small fixed blades not as popular as they seem?

I mostly use a pocketable fixed for food, when camping.

I sometimes use my Fällkniven Juni also as EDC, but I prefer knives with larger handles, when carried as a single sheathknife.
As a backup to a 4-5" basic fixed, the pocket fixed blade is a great alternative to a folder.

Edit to add:
I have stopped to use lanyards except on a Multitool, when working on a boat-deck at sea or up in the rigging.

I put lanyards (CRK type) on mine to help locate and pull them, so I like the holes. Micarta is my fav handle material on just about any knife. I prefer it to bone, G10, or anything else. I don't do wood at all. The only non-synthetic handle I have is sambar stag on my dress-up Essential.

I'm loving all the suggestions. The Juni is an especially nice knife. Dale, I can see where micarta or other synthetics would work well on small knives.

I only have one knife with a lanyard on it. It's only there to aid in drawing it from the sheath. Besides that one I guess I'm indifferent on whether they have lanyard holes or not. I don't carry that one in the pocket. It goes horizontal on my belt at 11.

Handle material, I like g10, micarta, I've learned that I like some cord wraps. Mostly if they're epoxied. Wood, I don't have enough experience to say either way.

Blade shape I like them pointy and with some kind of swedge. Full or high flat grinds preferred.

The only one that gets pocket carried is the one under the street beat. The only one with a lanyard is above the street beat, although it blends very well into the carpet.

Two of your collection are on my short list. The ZT is at the top of the list. How pocketable is the ZT 0121? I also like the Hard Edge Knives w/the tan wrap, which one is that?

Question 1: Absolutely not, most of my knives have a hole fastener at the end anyway
Yesterday i knot some gecko paracord onto thre rear of my RMD, it looks nice, knots and then a tail
2: Red linen micarta
3: Slight drop point with false double edge like EX-01 hogue, it is a fantastic shape, got a little bit of meat up top for stability, 75-90% grind

I don't carry the 0121 in the pocket. Belt carry only. It may fit for you, but I think a different sheath would be needed.

The Hard Edge is a 1095 Storm 1/8in thick.

This is my Krein Cayenne. About 5 1/8" with Ansø textured G-10. Kydex sheath. I use a lanyard for the sheath when I pocket carry.

Thanks jkwithawave

To the op, lanyards on a small fixed blade in a pocket can help in deployment if the knife is very small. For me, knives larger than the BK 11/14 don't really need a lanyard but your mileage may vary
