Hi everyone, ive really started to get into knives and want to buy some new one. only i dont know what to get. I'm hoping someone could give my some suggestions.
i'm looking for a edc fixed blade pocket knife. I was thinking one of the cold steel neck knives mainly for the price(i don't have a real lot to spend around $100 Au)
I also wanted to know if an ontario rat 3 would be a good option or is it to big

If your not weight sensitive it might fit it is thick, and heavy, I would recommend the Izula 2, great knife and about half the price. if you like spydys, the new enuff line of small fixed blades might be nice, though I haven't held one.

IMO the RAT 3 is to big. I would go for a ESEE Izula or the Candiru. Also go check out the knife maker's fixed blade for sale section in the exchange. For EDC pocket carry I like to use a kiridashi. It is a very useful cutting tool that can take on many aesthetically pleasing forms.

I really like my Boker Plus Tom Krein Pocket Bowie. Excellent three-finger grip and rides comfortably when dropped into a front pocket...

For something a little bigger, I'd recommend a Becker BK-11 or ESEE Izula 2.

Good luck, OP! :)

Too bad it's almost impossible to find a production kiridashi. I'm looking at TOPS Knives's ALRT 01 for its general kiridashi liked shape, but it's not a true kiridashi since it's not chisel ground.

Also, to OP: Brous Blades's Silent Soldier is a good option and the aforementioned ALRT 01 is pretty decent, but very limited in utility.

I have been carrying a Jon Graham Stubby Razel for the last 3 weeks and love it Jon makes the best pocket sheaths ive ever seen it rides like a folder. So far it is the best EDC knife I have ever had in my pocket. CRKT teamed up with Graham knives to make a production line of the Razels. Give them a look they have a great pocket sheath and its a solid little tank of a knife.

I love my ESEE Candiru. I had a kydex sheath made for it though, the one from the factory isn't much. That's a RAT 3 in the background. It's a LOT bigger knife.

You most definatly got to get an esee candiru or izula. Izula is wonderful it comes with a great sheath and you can buy a pocket sheath as well.

I've got a couple from here (one day I'll get a decent camera and take pics) one from Tobin Smith, his pocket EDC line is really nice. And one from Matt Markell, both really nice really light and great performers.

Matts got one in the for sale section if you're interested. It's not gonna last long...

Blind horse knives has a ton of options in your price range and most of them are a little more people friendly.

My pocket carry fixed blade is the CRKT Minimalist with the bowie blade.

The Boker+ Tom Krein Pocket Bowie would be an excellent choice too.

Check out the Boker Tom Krein pocket Bowie .....
I carry me in in a KSF pocket sheath...
It's much more pocketable than my izula ...
And inexpensive ...

Check out the Esee Izula2, the BK&T BK11 and the Esee Candiru. All three are great fixed blades, the candiru i tossed in there in case you're lookin for something smaller.

I just ordered one of these from Tobin smith today- 5 in overall with a 2 in blade. I got O1 and natural micarta. They are right around 100$, and Tobin will customize it for you.

Very secure for EDC, under 6" OAL, good steel and American Made.

Not a super steel but I'm really liking this for EDC.

Awful name ( makes me think of vomit ) but really nice Wharncliffe blade there.

Also, I don't think the ESEE 3 is across-the-board too big for pocket carry. It kind of depends on how big/deep your pockets are, what else you're carrying in there, etc. My right hip pocket usually just houses my Leatherman ST200, and sometimes an ESEE Izula but the ESEE 3 fits in there with the Leatherman without being too cramped. Not to mention that you can use a clip-plate to secure it on the outside of the pocket so the handle rides up above, but I don't know if that's really what you mean with "pocket" fixed blades.
