Pocket knife/Clip Question

Howdy, Everone.
This has probably been covered before, but I would still like some input on this question.
I was on the job two days ago, and lost my pocket knife, a CRKT K.I.S.S., the larger(Samson?) version.
I was scurrying around in some bushes, and on my way back to the truck noticed that my knife was missing.
Back-tracking turned up snake-eyes.
I am new to the company, and up until that day, I had my knife clipped to the right front pocket of my Levi's, but that was the first day wearing uniform pants, and these pants have a slant pocket as opposed to the horizontal Levi's pockets. I belive this to be the culprit, as the knife was now riding kind of sideways.
The clip on the K.I.S.S. is pretty robust;I once washed a pair of jeans, forgetting to check the pockets, and when I hung them out on the clothesline (dryer wasn't working) it was still clipped to the pocket. I was impressed by that.
My dilema is that I prefer a knife clipped to my right front pocket:I already have my pockets full of stuff, so a pocket-type sheath is out, and I have all manner of impedimenta attatched to my belt, so a sheath or pouch would just add to the mess, and as I am in pest control, specializing in rodent proofing buildings, I am frequently going under houses and into attics, this is one more thing to hem me up on the way in or out, besides my "ample middrift".
So, any suggestions?
In the interim, I am probably going to get a Smith & Wesson "Pocket Protector" knife( I know, I know:"That Chinese made 440 piece 'o crap?") 'cause I know it will fit in the shirt pocket.
I saw a knife some time back that had a clip that made the knife ride lower in the pocket, but I can't remember what that knife was, so maybe someone could help with that answer.
By the way, this is going to be a work knife, so I really don't want to pay too much for the replacement.
Thanks in advance everyone!

hey bowieman, have you considered the Stanley SUV?

Its the even better "chineese 420" steel!!

Seriously, I use it at work and the blade make a great tool-spatula and pry bar. The added razor blade is usefull for most cutting jobs (I have much cardboard and tape stuff). It is also a quick change style. Doesnt store extra blades which is a bummer but does have a spare pouch on the sheath..... I never carry it tho, just put the knife in my back pocket. Blade length is about 4" so plenty of muscle and partially serrrated for fiberous stuff. I use it for roofing shingles etc at home, and the rubber inserts provide a great grip. Cost is under 30 bucks, so how can you go wrong. One handed opening once you get used to it... not fast but can be done hanging off a ladder or crawling under a house.

Thanks for the response, Sharpguytoo, but I can't find any Stanley SUV anywhere on the net. Perhaps it goes by a different name?

It's called the Stanley 10-801 FatMax Sport Utility Knife...you can find them for about 20 bucks online

STR on the forums makes a low rider clip. If you need a clip that stays on know matter what; take a look at Kershaw. They are very big, thick, and stay on. They can be a little hard to break in and get used to sliding into your pocket, but they don't come off. I've had that problem with almost every Spyderco I owned and I love the look of their knives, but the clips give too much. Not the case with Kershaw or ZT. I've got a Kershaw Needs Work and a Cyclone, and a ZT 301 and they stay glued to my jeans. Coldsteel also makes a good clip. Clint

I gave up on using clips in pockets. If I wasn't losing the knife out of my pocket when it got hooked on something, I was damaging the clip or whatever I bumped up against with it. The only place I ever use one anymore (and not very often at that) is with the knife inside the waistband of my trousers, the clip underneath the belt.

A small neck knife might work for you as well, whether it is a folder or non-folder, in a kydex type sheath?

Whether wearing slacks or jeans, if carring a knife with a clip, I clip it to the inside of my right rear pocket. I find it to be always available, not in the way of getting to other things in my front pockets, and very secure. I also find it quite comfortable whether sitting or standing.

Another you might consider is the Mcusta made Browning Ice Storm. These were made for Browning by Mcusta using the VG10 blade from the MC10 and the scales like the MC4. They are discontinued but you can still find these in a variety of colors online for under $30.00. The pocket clip is very sturdy and as you can see actually is about a 1/16 of an inch higher than the top of the handle allowing this to sit very low in the pocket. One of the best buys online right now.

Thanks for the responces, people!
I think I am going to go along with Absitheur's suggestion on the Mcusta/Browning Ice Storm. I like the clip rides the knife low, and straight down as well.
