Hi There, brand new to this forum and an admitted ignorant soul when it comes to sharp things, hehe. If I'm posting this in the wrong location, I apologize and will ammend if needs be. Now to my question...

I need some help. We were recently cleaning out my late Grandfathers old workdesk when I came across a very interesting pocket knife, (Interesting to me that is lol). I have researched till my fingers can't type any more and have not been able to find ANY details about this particular issue knife.

Here is what I do know, it is a Frost Cutlery knife. From a couple of posts here I understand Frost doesn't hold the highest respect among knife afficianados, but it seems to be a very well made pocket knife. It is made of Surgical Steel out of Japan. I THINK it is made of Ivory... seems to white and pure to be bone considered its apparent age, and its definitely not plastic... too hard and lined. Heres the interesting part... it has a Dizzy Dean signature on it, with "OL DIZ" typed directly underneath. To the left it has, at least imitation, scrimshawed pictures of Dizzy Deans face and body in baseball uniform. On the metal part it has the number 232 which makes me think it must be some kind of collectible. I'm thinking it must be from the 70's or 80's. I will attempt to attach pictures to this post.

If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Well wouldn't let me post the pics from my facebook, not sure how else to get them on here since it won't upload from my desktop...

Heres what the other side looks like. Sorry for the blur, taken with my iPhone.

And the pictures are adding more yellowish color than the knife handle actually has.

It is an older one....They actually were not that bad. Honest, good pocket knives. The Frost now is junk. The handle material is probably bone. Keep it, cherish it.

Thanks for the replies... I just wish I could have more detail about how my Grandfather may have aquired it. Like what the 232 may indicate, was it a limited edition for a specific group of people or something like that? Why the Dizzy Dean Motif seeing as he passed in like 74'? Just some questions like that among the ivory one as well. Thought there may be a hardcore Frost collectible expert here or something maybe lol.

the 232 looks like a series number, as in #232 out of xxxx. Thats my un-expert assesment

maybe a mod will move over the BR's forum

What he said... I have an older Parker knife , real small lockback from the early 80's , it's not bad but the stuff they put out later was junk , as Frost is now.
