Pocket knife disassembly

I recently found a small Queen stockman that is in pretty poor condition and I want to rescale it. I would like to disassemble the knife, but cannot figure out how to remove the pins from the bolsters. I have been able to remove the broken scales and have removed one spring and loosened the other, but I just cannot go any further. I have tried to tap the pins out, but they won't move with light tapping and I am afraid to hit them really hard. I can see the pins on one side, but they do not show on the other...is there some secret to removing these pins, or does it just take a really hard hit?

I have tried searching this forum but no luck. If anyone knows where I can find any information on this, I would be greatful.

Use a punch, and firmly tap the side you can see. The pin should then protrude on the other side. File it flush, and drive the pin the opposite direction, file off the protrusion and drive back in the other direction. Continue until one side of the flared pin head is gone, and drive the pin out.
Putting new pins in is another adventure!
