Well, this is a prototype. I've been messing around with it. I call it a pocket knife because the sheath is a pouch with a pocket/belt clip. You can wear it in your jeans pocket or on your belt, since the pouch is rectangular it's ambidextrous. When I wore it on my belt, I would wear it "inside the belt" like some slide holsters.

Specs:
Aldo 1084, whomped into submission
6 7/8" overall
2 3/4" cutting edge
1/8" at the spine
600x finish
Edge quenched and 3x tempered

The handle is kinda something I'm experienting with, it's 2mm leather round cord over 7oz leather sides on the tang then coated with expoxy. I'm thinking reshaping the butt to make it a little more friendlier to wrapping.

As always your comments (good, bad, funny) are appreciated. :p

I think it's pretty neat.
...Although I think that non epoxied leather, while less durable, would be more comfortable. If you're liking the idea of a wrapped, epoxied handle, then I think hemp or sisal type stuff might be more effective as the fibers poke through with a little wear and give more grip. I don't know if leather will do quite the same thing, but I hope you let us know how it weathers.

What price point are you aiming for with this little guy?

I think it would work nicely. The fact that the blade is lower then the handle seems like it would cut well while keeping your hand safe.

That's how I carry the knife you made me. It just fits handily in my pocket, and I never worry about losing it.

Lorien,

Right now probably $75 or so shipped. I like to make knives affordable for most people, that's the reason I started making knives anyways :D I couldn't afford custom knives.

The epoxied handle is pretty grippy. I'm not sure what you would be doing where you would be using enough torque or force to cause it to twist or your hand to push forward onto the blade.

Thanks Will, that's actually less than I thought. What a deal!

As for the handle wrapping, it's not that I was thinking you wouldn't get enough grip as it stands, but the knife that Tai made for me has a resinated fibrous wrap that is starting to get 'furry' with use, and it feels really nice. A lot nicer than when it was just skin against resin. It will be interesting to see if leather does the same type of thing- little fibres protruding through the resin with use.

Lorien, that sounds very cool and "Tai" style if you get what I mean. I'm not sure how popular a hemp handle ;) would be, probably a special order thing. The main reason I put epoxy on was to cut down on the leather absorbing stuff.

I know it's fairly inexpensive but I want to work on learning wrapping and braiding, sales of similar knives will "pay" for my tuition so to speak.

By the way... what did you think I'd charge for a similar knife... in USD please :p

I Really like like. And the finish! I might have you make me a different blade style! ;)
Tnx!!

Hey Will, I thought they'd be another 50 bucks or so.
pm on its way:)
