I received the following pocket knife from my grandfather when I was just a teenager.

He has passed on and the knife remains one of my most treasured gifts.

I wanted to learn more about the knife and I've never been able to find another one like it:

http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j186/jordanmichigan/Knife.jpg

It's 3 inches long with two blades (1 small, 1 large)

on the large blade is stamped "Imperial stainless U.S.A" and there is a crown symbol over the "i" in "Imperial"

Any ideas who manufactured this (e.g. Swiss Army, Imperial, etc)
and if they still make this knife?

embossed on it is a picture of a dog running through the woods

Thanks

Justin

Imperial was one brand of knives made by the Imperial-Schrade Corporation, which went bancrupt and was dissolved in 2004.

Sorry I can't be more help than that. The best place for a more complete answer would be either the Bernard Levine forum section or the Schrade Collectors section. A scan or photo of the tang stamp might be helpful too.

hi bob
thanx for your response

is the tang where the imperial stamp is imprinted?

sounds like the may not make my knife anymore if the company is out of business

That's where most companies stamp a logo, model number, and/or country of origin.

After the Schrade bancrupcy, Taylor Brands bought the rights to the Schrade brand names and designs. They are having many "Schrade" and "Imperial" knives made in China and elsewhere, but those knives have nothing to do with the Imperial-Schrade Corporation.

I've never seen a Taylor-Schrade like your's, so I doubt you could buy a modern replacement even if you wanted. Your best bet would be eBay.
