I am looking for a pocket knife $30.00 or less that has the following requirements:

Has to be lightweight
blade between 2 1/2 and 3 inches
not serrated
will be carried in my left front pocket

I have a small keychain spyderco (ladybug?) on my keychain so another spyderco would be great but probably out of my budget.Any ideas would be great....Thanks

I like the Benchmade PIKA, not because of it's reasonable price, but because it is one heck of great knife. Good feeling, well made. They make a "mini" version but I don't find the regular size cumbersome.

The Benchmade Griptillian model is a little more expensive but also a very good EDC.

I have a green serrated ladybug on my keychain. It get much more use than I ever imagined when I bought it. Great little "cutter", that Ladybug.

I just got a Benchmade/NRA Knives small Steigerwalt lockback for about $30 shipped. It is very lightweight, 2.6" 440C blade, Micarta scales on a 3.5" handle, "springless" lockback, bronze washers, thumbstud, and tip up pocket clip.

I would consider cutting cost in another area and not worry about spending money on a quality knife. If you find a quality knife for 30 or less thats great, but junk anything is a complete waste money.I have heard roumoes that sertain wal marts a selling a selest few spydercos, one is the navigator with s 30 v blade steel.the price was 40$.Thats a very good deal,The wal marts in central dont have them but I think ny and penn were mentioned,so maybe you neck of the country has them.I check every time Im at super wal mart but no luck, our store do have some kershaws and crkt though. Also our bigger gun and outdoor type stores have nice knife selections and every month have at least one knife on sale thats a solid deal.I picked up a camillus heat for 38$ a few months ago,for the blade size you looking for it would be his little brother the camillus blaze. It has aus8 steel and assisted opeaning and somewhere in your price range. Also the kershaw scallion would be worth o look.Look at the prices at an on line store like knifecenter.com then try to beat or match that price considering shipping charges. I agree with DDG about the bm griptillia and I think they have one In tthe size your looking for

KaBar Dozier for about $20
s30v Spyderco native $40
Byrd line of Knives from spyderco- under $20
all are quality:thumbup:

Excellent find! Quite a bargain. Like the looks. Like the manufacturer. Like the components. Never handled a springless lockback. Would this be considered a gravity knife I wonder.

Thanks for the tip.

Best,

Not a gravity knife. It operates the same as a standard lockback. There are slits cut into the liners and the the liners act like a spring for the lock bar. Very difficult to explain but very simple when you see it up close. BTW, that is a picture of the larger Steigerwalt but they are almost identical. The smaller one does not have those grooves in the scales. Also, the micarta is not a pretty as the photo. The actual knife looks a bit rough but for $30 shipped it's a cool deal. Oh, and if you're a lefty the thumbstud and clip are reversable.
