Hawaii? Just make sure whatever you carry is corrosion resistant. Might want to see what the locals carry and use.

Spent a month on Oahu last October literally on the beach. The waves were breaking 20 feet below the house we rented. Wasn't an issue to stainless blade steel.

Yes. IF you take them in the water with you. That calls for a special steel.
But you can be on the Island of Hawaii vacationing for a month right on the beach and regular stainless is fine.

I live in the SF Bay Area and travel along the coast with regularity including Mavericks in Half Moon Bay. But when I was on the North Shore of Oahu and those waves broke it was thunderous. You could actually feel the ground (beach) shake beneath your feet!
