Pocket lint

Many folks will use either a slip to protect the knife or a Buckaroo Pouch. A buckaroo pouch is a slip with a tether that goes to a belt loop. Not only does it protect the knife from lint, keys and other accumulations, it also makes it easier to get out of said pocket.

Pull on the tether:

And the pouch and knife come out of your pocket. Let the pouch hang by the tether as you use your knife. All done with your knife, back in the pouch and back in the pocket.

There's a slit in the tether at the end so that it backfeeds around the belt loop or it can go around the belt too:

They can be made in different sizes for different sized knives too:

These are pretty common in the cowboy world. Try reaching under those chaps to get to your knife when need it. Its tough but ya can do it. Lots easier to pull on that tether:

Another option that works for a lot of people is a belt sheath:

Horsewright Horsewright Dave, excellent stuff sir !

and yes, pull out the pocket and remove lint when ever you think to do it, and a slip sheath protects from dust bunnies as well as protecting the knife while in your pocket too.

Leather is veggie tan that is milled, it's very soft and supple and yet takes embossing pretty nicely.

For those that like stitching down both sides, this one turned out pretty nice

I once dropped a folder in the mud while fishing. It was laying on my leg. I'm tying line.

Then the other pole gets a bite. I jump up to grab it. The knife goes flying. While I reeled in nothing.

Where's my damn knife? Oh there it is. I've been stomping it in mud for the last 5 minutes. And Man, it was packed with mud. Axis lock too.

Shook it underwater to get the bulk out. Kept fishing.

Pocket lint? Keeping car keys in the same pocket as the knife is worse.
