I'm looking into trading my old Palm for a Pocket PC. Could someone recommend me a site with good reviews of them? I'm considering getting a wireless one w/ cell phone capabilities if it would make sense. Any opinion welcome...

Thanks. I was looking for a Pocket PC + phone device, but it seems it's still too early for that.

With everything out there it is difficult to decide in which direction to go. I am also trying to decide , do i stay with palm or do i head the pocket pc route. My head is hurting.

To me the OS still seems more useful than the Pocket PC approach. If you look at a Palm Tungsten T or a Sony Clie TG50 CLIÉ the Palm Os based machines still seem to offer all I need in a small and convienient package.

My Tungsten offers a 145mhs processor, 16 mb of onboard ram, so far a 256mb SD card and Bluetooth connectivity which I've yet to exploit. It plays MP3s, opens the Filemaker database I need easily and has a tiny footprint in my pocket. When you add Avantgo, a few games and the e-book reader functionality, the compact Palm OS devices still seem to define portable computing in my book.

My Tungsten T rocks and the new Sony looks pretty cool as well. I think Pocket PC has a way to go before it is as user friendly as the Palm OS. This is just my opinion.

Without my PDA my life would be much more disorganized.

I ended up with a Dell Axim. So far I have been very pleased.

There are pros and cons for both the palm os and the windows based os. I picked the windows os because it suits my needs, and wants, better.

Hey no reason to appoligize

I have a palm at the moment, this past Christmas my wife bought me a Zire ( all they had available ) And it works fine. However i have gotten to the point i want something with more storage and capability. My wife has a palm M515, which she likes, and is a possiblity for me as well. I was also looking at the

Tungsten T

Sony NX70V CLIə Handheld

pocket pc Toshiba E740 ( had to tie in the pocket pc )

I hate to just rush in and purchase the first thing and be dissapointed. I want to read all the facts and base my decision on that.

www.brighthand.com is a good resource for both platforms.

Personally, I find the Palm more useful as a "pure" organizer and the PocketPC more useful for "near computer" type tasks. Plus, I think the PPC integrates with your PC (assuming an MS OS) better than Palm (using Outlook, PPC, and Windows2k, the PPC is so integrated, it's practically an extension of your PC). Newer Palms might be better though.

I've used both. For my next one, whenever that is, I will probably get a Palm. They're faster, have clearer screens, smaller, and a bit less expensive. I just don't use the advanced features of PPC as much as I thought I would.

I have a Palm III right now, but I find the address book too limited, and I don't want to have to dl tons of add'l softwares to get to what I want. Ideally, I'd like a Pocket PC whith phone capabilities, like the T-Mobile, but I need to think about the trade-offs there.
