Pocket sharpener to complement my DMT Diafold C/F?

I was thinking about adding a DMT Diafold EF/EEF to go along with my Diafold Course/Fine to make a travel system (I'll add a small strop.)

But first I thought I'd check with the experts here. For some reason, I get the feeling that folks here aren't so keen on the Diafold EF/EEF.

Is there a better option?

Many thanks.

I have the DMT EF/EEF and it works ok. But for final deburring I prefer a finer ceramic. The diamond plates, of any grit, just don’t seem to put as nice an apex on most steels for me. So I go to a Spyderco doubelstuff, usually just the fine. Or the fine side of a fallkniven cc4, or a Spyderco extra fine pocket stone. Works a treat.

+1//:thumbsup: on the Spyderco ceramics. Don’t necessarily have any experience with the stuff series, but considering you’re taking it up to those grits, they’re a great choice for a lot of steels.
*Edit* I do own all the ceramics in triangular rod form, and they are a peach because they take whatever edge you have, whether good or bad, and run with it.

I have the Sharpmaker with factory stones plus UF. Ceramics are good if not slow, but I'm not a fan of the standard medium grey/brown stone. I assume that is half of the Double Stuff, correct?

Seems pricey, too. DS2 is even more.

The Fallkniven offerings are more budget friendly. (Don't mind paying the $35 for another DMT or any other stone, for that matter, but the Double Stuff would be $30+ for essentially just the fine ceramic.)

edit to correct price of Double Stuff

Would you be fine with carrying the UF’s in their containers? (They’re my personal favorites, and would be my option to pair with the F DMT) Or are your travels a little more rough on your carry?
Other than that, I think that a DMT EF/EEF + a strop should serve you fine for a travel kit.
As an alternative, you could always experiment with loaded strops and carry 1-3 of them on your pack. You can always make them as light as you need (balsa + compound) or from different materials (3M strips/lapping films).

You can also check out the Spyderco Double Stuff.
Yeah I like the DOUBLESTUFF>> I have 3 of them I keep on my person and in my bug-out bags and survival kits. Also Spyderco has their newer DOUBLESTUFF 2 that I'm also impressed with.

Now Fallkniven also has some small sharpening tools I've been impressed with.

Paper and some compound on it, or even plain paper. Wrap it around DMT Diafold and use it as a strop.

I dont own a Diafold but I imagine you might have enough clearance to fold paper around it and close the handles, than put a few rubber bands around it so when you use it as a strop you can use those to hold the paper in place if you want.
