Pocket-Sized Fixed Blade?

I have seen a couple of forum members post pictures in the "EDC" threads of small fixed blade knives in pocket sheaths. I have become rather interested in this idea recently, but I can't seem to find any quality knives that fit the role. I was thinking of something in the 4-5 inch overall range, like the Bark River Trickle or Mikro-Slither (although I could not track down anyone who still has either of those particular blades in stock).

So, I was wondering if anyone could suggest any knives, makers or retailers I should check out in my quest to put a fixed blade in my pocket? ;)

CRKT makes a stubby razel Graham Bros model
I have the Graham version and I love it
I think the CRKT one comes with a kydex sheath
but the leather one from Graham Bros is my favorite
Barry Dawson also makes some very nice pocket fixed blades for a more money though than the CRKT

I like Tom Krein, Charles May, and Gene Ingram for pocket fixed blades. If you don't want to go the custom route, then take a look at the Nemesis KNives Arch Ally.

Hi there,

Tops makes one they call the Tops Thumb Nail. It is small, but effective.

O/A Length: 3 1/4"
Blade Length: 1"
Thickness: 1/8"
Steel: 440C RC 58-60
Blade Color: Sand Blast Finish

That might work for you.

I'm a Tops Dealer on this forum, and can be reached through the Exchange/For Sale by Dealers/Fo Sale Production...Dealers area.

Thanks,

Do you like this one?

This is one of JK handmade knives, about 5 inches long.

Leu Custom just made me a small FB. Check out his web-site.
It would be cool to have a pocket clip attached to a FB handle.

I carry my RAT Cutlery Izula in my right front pocket every day.

+1 GRAHAM BROTHERS!!!!!

I am on my third. They are absolutely awesome. I didn't believe a fixed blade could ever be comfortable in my pocket until I tried it. You can just slightly cant the handle towards your hip when you sit and it actually feels better than most of my larger fixed blades.

Midtech Razel
Pocket Kukri
Wee Razel SS on the way
Gents folding Razel in the hopefully near future!

If you can't get directly from the Brothers, try NewGraham knives they are great people to deal with. Other than slippies I buy everything from them.

I had Charles May make me a small fixed blade, 4 inches overall in D2 steel. Very handy, orginally designed to fit in a wallet, I am still working on the wallet issue. It is amazing how easy it is to use in spite of it's size.

Here are a couple links of knives you can order right off these forums... I own one of each.

Charles may and Gene ingram are also very nice but you will have to wait until late 2012 for an Ingram not sure bout May.

Custom does not mean a 2 year wait or $200 plus. Check our Michael Morris (his profile series) and Blind Horse knives (especially their Frontier First and Workcliffe). You might want to look at Bark River's Mini and Mikro Canadians, too.

Add me to the list of people recommending Michael Morris. I bought one Pocket Filer for my own use and was so impressed that I bought another to give as a gift.

Stomper here on the forums (JK knives in the maker's subforum) has several models that might fit your needs. Great prices and he doesn't have the long wait like many other makers.

Maybe you can find a Bark River Little Creek or Micro Canadian? Those are close to your size range, and there are probably several more besides.

You my friend need to contact clemsonreeder here in BF. I asked the same question about a year ago & he came thru for me with exactly what I (&you) are looking for

The knife is 1095 w/ cherry handles & brass pins. 1/8" thick w/convex edge. Reeder is a great guy & very helpful !;)
Sorry about the blurry pics, I was just learning my camera.

Thanks for all the responses, folks!

After some thinking, I decided to jump on one of Michael Morris nice little creations. This will be my first "custom" and I am looking forward to getting my hands on it. :)

The customs by Charles May and Gene Ingram are very tempting, and I may end up ordering something from one of them, but the long wait and high price put me off, at least for now. A couple of the other prodction knives mentioned look like possibilities, too, including the AG Russell and TOPS, so if I decide I like Morris knife as an alternate EDC, I may pick up a couple more pocketable fixed-blades later. ;)

I'd still be interested in seeing or hearing about any other blades that forum members might be carrying, so don't stop now!
