Does anyone use them on their traditional EDC, or are they more trouble than they're worth? I didn't know if it was annoying to have to pull it out of your pocket and then remove the knife from the slip holster each time you needed your knife. Thanks for your thoughts.

I don't much.... I generally just keep the knife and maybe a handkerchief in my knife pockets. Left front is for a knife and a smaller knife in the watch pocket is generally how I carry. If I must carry keys or something in that pocket, I'll use a slip or wrap in said handkerchief.

I might ought to use them more often though. Might keep down on the frequency of lint removal sessions I have.

I use a leather slip in pocket. I've found it keeps the knife from ending up sideways in the bottom of my pocket. I think the lint buildup is actually worse, at least it seems that way... With a traditional, deployment speed is a secondary issue, so I don't find any hassle at all with having to take it out of the sheath.

I am a big fan of using a simple pocket slip. Here is a photo of my pocket slip with the appropriate knife.

Was thinking of stitching one of leather with rough side out so that it grabs the inside of rear pocket, smooth side in so that the knife can slip out easily. Goal to keep the knife vertical in my back pocket with enough of it exposed from the leather so I could pinch it and draw it out while not pulling the pouch out. Would have to be same size as pocket.

Make sense?

Guess I should have done this, too. Now I will :-) .

I've become a recently converted enthusiast of the Pocket Slip all thanks to Gary Graley here on the forum .
I got a SAK off him and he sent it with a simple soft leather pocket slip that he had made .
That thing has changed my mind and my views , they are a great idea and I'll continue to use them for ever more .

I use them. It allows me to carry more than one knife per pocket without getting all scratched up.

It can also make them less likely to slide out of a pocket.

Plus, they are very easy to make.

I like them as an idea, leather and all, but i don't really use 'em.
A small stitched or safety pin improvised pocket inside the pocket, so the knife rides vertical opposite to the side seam, works better for me. But my regular carry, the peanut doesn't even need that.

I make these for my front right pocket out of Deer hide folded so the skin is inside and out. The braided thong can be looped through a belt loop which keeps it standing up and down in my pocket and allows for retrieval.

Best regards

Robin

I love my pocketslip, like bigfatty said, helps keep knife from sliding out of pocket.
You get used to using it in about a week.
And you will prolly carry a better knife.

Yep, pocket slips work for me, particularly this one from KSF that I recently received as a very generous gift from Arizonaranchman, thanks Jeff :)

It feels a lot less bulky in the pocket than it's shape might suggest, and the fact that my favourite knife now has protection made my mind up to carry it instead of babying it.

Definite thumbs up for pocket slips

I do for my custom or higher end, (above $200 mark) traditionals anything below that is just a typical pocket carry with all the dings and knicks that comes with it.

When I do vary in a slip case taking out the knife becomes a more process when it gets pulled out. If I'm in a hurry I have other knives with me that are quicker to access and easier to open in a hurry.
