Hello fellows, I have a question for you. How many of you use the pockets snag? I rarely ever use mine. I use my pocket snag as a thumb stud as its design. I rarely ever use a wave action. I was just curious as to what are your preferences. But I do like the wave action just in case. But it takes a different technique with every different pair of pants I own. So practicing with the pockets snag to me is difficult. If you do use the pocket snag do you practice often? Sometimes certain pants give me trouble using the snag.

I’ve only used the wave plate on a Bush Ranger, but ended up selling it. However, I use Snaggletooth wave thumbstud replacements for some of my most carried knives, and can wave them open slowly if I want, just take practice.

Sometimes I just use the thumb stud instead, but have to be mindful not to snag the wave.

Thank you sir there have been times when I accidentally pulled it out of my pocket and it opened. Just got to be a little more careful I guess

I don't really buy that many folders and most I do are for EDC.

The only knives I have with a Wave are the Emerson CQC-7BW and a small Kershaw.

I've carried the CQC-7BW for years and almost always use the Wave when opening it. There are a few pants where it doesn't work on.

I also remove it every day without opening it.

It did not take long to learn to use it, and I practiced opening it from multiple positions such as my back being against a wall, and opening into a stab/cut.

At the time I bought it Emerson was the only company with knives that size that had Waves.

I think Emerson improved the design since I bought mine in 2002 and Spyderco and Cold Steel probably have knives with better Waves (easier to open) than the one I have, so with practice these newer knives should work well.

When you find out which is best can you let me know thanks Vlade! 🤓
I was referring to an Espada. But after Benjamin keyed me into Emerson. I looked them up. They look like fine knives to me. A little pricey but you get what you pay for. Do you have any knives with the wave feature Paul?

I was just wondering if waves are better than no waves for SD and assumed you were wondering the same thing. I have a spartan and I made G 10 waves for my xl voyagers that resemble the snaggle tooth.

I keep a Rajah II in my pant leg pocket when I'm out in the pasture. It's pretty easy to snag the thumplate and pop out a mini-machete/kukri to deal with a small bunch of blackberry vine, makes work a little quicker - not fumbling with a sheath. Not unreasonable to unlock and close it one-handed as well. Would be nice to have a wave action to close it also, but I suppose I could figure out some quick handwork that would make me look like I was doing the funky chicken dance.

My pants are tough. I have them ground down to a string holding my pockets together (Espada XL did this to my pockets). I always have a waved blade in my pocket. Proper technique will save your pants a lot of trouble.

I have been meaning to get a Snaggletooth, the fact that my XL Voyager does not wave is annoying. This is supposed to be Cold Steel!
Oh well. How does that method work? Only ever done aftermarket Spydie waves, never through the stud-hole.

snaggle tooths are fine , its a one size fits most device. It has a slotted hole to accommondate different blades (hole to spine) measurements. If you have some super glue and some sheet material you can make one any size, shape, color you can dream up, then use a nut and screw for the studs. The first one I stacked a couple of washers a placed a o ring on them for a more slip resistant stud cuz I place my thumbnail on the blade to deploy:oops: If I ever get around to it, Ill see if a side mounted tooth works just as good as I don't really care for the tooth on top of the blade.
