Pocketknives in BG42?

As the proud owner of several of the green handled Buck Master Series, I have grown really fond of this BG42 steel. I carry and use one of the model 532s everyday. I am wondering if there is any chance of Buck making a run of the black handled pocketknives in BG42? Man, I would love one of the stockman knives with this steel.

I agree. I'd like to get a new Buck knife in Bg42 steel myself. A good thumb rest for better sticking the knife into things, maybe liek the Cuda has, would be great too.

Danbo,

I hate to say it but there are no plans in the works for a 301 in BG-42 but, our customers are what get things put "in the works" so you never know.
In general, we have gotten a lot of positive responses to our use of this steel so hopefully it is here to stay.

Hey Joe, How about a 501 in bg-42? With a flat ground blade?I'would love to buy one. I have a 110 with a bg-42 blade. It is one of my favorites.

fudo,

A flat ground 501? That sounds interesting. We made the 501 in BG-42 but it was hollowground. We don't make too many flat ground knives and they usually tend to be the smaller blades.

How about another 501 in BG-42? ...for those of us who missed out on the MS knives. Maybe with some ivory micarta scales and nickel-silver bolsters.

Ah, yup, that'd be nice!!!!
Can't have too much BG42.
(or VG10 or...)

Mr. Houser;
Thank you for your response. I feel really good about being able to talk to a company about their products and be listened to. Some companies forget that as an aficionado of your products, I have an interest in seeing your company prosper almost as much as you do. I am glad that you all have not forgotten this.
I have a suggestion and a question. First, I was not aware that you had made any 501's in BG-42. Are they still available or did I miss the boat?
Second, How about an American series of 501's, flat ground, BG-42 steel, and one each with red, white, and blue micarta scales? I'll take two sets! Or even an American flag pattern like the Synergy's?
Keep up the great work.

Hmmmm, fudo, I like your idea. Sounds like it could be a very classy set, maybe release one a year in 1K lots, like the 532. Or, it'd be a neat option in the Custom Shoppe.

I am sending this thread to the marketing department. We are looking for opportunities for limited editions etc.

The 501MS was a version the the master series and was the only BG-42 501. We can definitely do it. We just need a special project to create the numbers needed...or to put the knife on PCKS.

I almost forgot to ask, are there any of those 501MS's laying around out there that are looking for a new home?

I really hope the PCKS can do enough traffic to prosper and stick around. Now, how about the 532 in PCKS; oh, and the rumored mystery fixed blade ???
Sorry, can't help asking!

All kinds of nifty ideas floating around here! I like the idea of a 3 knife set in red/white/blue micarta.
The 501ms,by the way, is long gone. Every now and then you see one for sale on one of the online auctions though.

I have to second this. On both counts. My 532-2000 ranks in the top 3 of my favorite carry folders, and the very top for fit and steel. The only thing that could make it better would to be able to order one in red bone or some other nice fancy materila from PCKS.

The 532 and the BG-42 has renewed my interest in Bucks (always had the faith, but had strayed a bit as of late...

this may or may not be scientific, but how about a 'vote' such as was done on the blade forum knife? you (joe & cj) gained alot of valuable input from that. Buck has been looking for ways and ideas to keep petes going, so maybe a single thread may be an option.
thanks,
guy

Fudo,
Sorry for the delay. I forwarded your post to Cj and he told me he could not log in for some reason. He has been trying to get this fixed but the forum does not recognise his name anymore.
We are hoping to ad the vanguard and the Zipper this year. I am going to campaign for the 532 as well.

You got my vote for the 532 as well, Joe. I think it would do very well in PCKS.
