One of Dietrich Podmajersky's JS test knives really caught my eye at Blade this year. Well, his divergent group as a whole was unique, drew me in and was a pleasure to see. I inquired about the bench knife after examining them all and ask if it was available. Dietrich said he had decided to sell his 5 knives as a set, which I could fully understand. He indicated he would be able to make me one by year's end if I was interested.
Here is his photo of the result I recieved in time for Christmas. This cool little bench knife is 9.25-inches overall, with almost 3-inches of cutting edge. The JS test model would set on all six sides of the handle, keeping the blade off the table in all positions. Dietrich's proportions are a little different on mine and the wider blade/slimmer handle (which I like) interferes with this happening in two of the six positions, but hang the blade off of the bench, and you are good to go in all six.
W1 steel with hamon and 1500 grit finish. 1018 Color case hardened fittings and stabilized Claro walnut burl handle.
Thought I would share. I look for this to be a constant companion around the desk.
