I met Pohan at Blade Show 2011. On the last day of Blade (actually went to Blade 2011 for two days) I came back to his booth with a concept I drew up on a piece of paper. A few days after Blade I mocked up the concept on CAD. Fast forward to now and I'm almost taking delivery of the blade I designed. All that is left for him to do is epoxy the handle, wait two days until the epoxy cures, mold the kydex, and give it the last bit of sharpening to bring it to razor edge. I have not been this excited for a knife in a long time. This is one I can say I designed. He even named it after me, Harkanto. I have another concept in mind that I will commission a few years later. It will be 8 inches overall with a 4.5 inch blade and 3.5 inch handle using 1/4 inch steel, most likely 3v. I'm hoping at that point he can do a convex to zero edge from a flat grind.

Material is 3/16 inch thick a2. He does his own heat treat from his shop. The blade is 62.5 RC according to his RC hardness tester. 7 inches overall length with a 3.25 inch handle. It's custom made to exactly my specs. The handle is long enough for me to wrap all four fingers around the grip. The grind is V to zero edge. This is my take on a traditional tanto.

Pretty sure the tsuka ito is nylon cord. The same is stingray.

I told him that he could make runs of this knife. Personally, I would love if the design is received well enough that people want to buy it. Make no mistake though; I am not advertising for him. I just don't mind if he takes my design and makes more.

Concept along with cut, beveled, and heat treated profile.

I will post better pics when I take delivery.

All in all, it's been a joy dealing with Pohan. He's one of the nicest makers you'll ever meet, and it will be a pleasure to see his knife making evolve over the next few years. I must mention his communication. The past few days, he and I must have gone back and forth several times.

Anyway, enjoy.

Excellent design and craftsmanship. I would really like to see your future design with the 4.5 inch blade.

Perhaps I'll post a pic of the CAD rendering after I finalize it. I'm debating on whether to make the blade another tanto or more hissatsu like.

Here's a pic Pohan took after the epoxy cured and he finished the kydex sheath. I'll do a full review when I get it and also take much better pics with my DSLR.

That looks sensational ! I just acquired one of Phohans fighters and his zero edge is scary sharp. Congrats on a successful collaboration.

I really like that blade Hark, it looks awesome. Definitely looking forward to more pictures, maybe some comparison shots with other knives.

Will do so, but there won't be too many comparo shots since I flipped a lot of my knives. I will take lots of pics when I do my review. I will only have that Pohan and a folding HTM Gunhammer.
