POINT MAN - Chief "Patches" Watson, Plank Owner, Seal Team Two, Trident Utility Folder - 154CM.

What can anyone tell me about a knife that has this on the blade? Thanks

Excellent folder, tough as nails, follows the Microtech line (if you have one), great ergos and I wish the blade didn't have all those writings :D

What do you want to know about it?

Hi Ichor (and nestor),

Patches explains his design in the Masters of Defense video (cover shown below)

Patches is not a "knife fighter" (at least not the same caliber as the other designers in the series e.g. Janich, Keating, Graciellas etc.)...his design is based on the concept that SEAL teams are more likely to use their knife for utility than fighting (would they rather fight with an MP-5 or a <3.5" folder??)

As for quality, I think Masters of Defense is pretty good...I'd rather have a MOD CQD (in fact, I do :) ) or a Microtech SOCOM than this one though :) (because I prefer the other designs)

Thanks for the info, guys. I think I can get this one for less than 50 bucks. It looks to be a very well made knife. I only found out that it is a MOD after my original post.

It is a damn good folder for $150.
I was able to buy mine for $100, which is what you can get it for if you keep your eyes open.
At $50, I would be very careful that you're not getting ripped off, or getting a very well used blade.
However, it is possible the poor guy needs cash quickly.
And yes, mine is in my daily EDC rotation, and it very comfortable to me. It has a rock solid lock, and has never come close to letting me down. It is one of my favorites, and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone, except maybe for someone with giant hands.

At $50 (if Walking Man's important warnings are unfounded), that would be a great deal. I loved mine, and for years it was my "airplane knife" whenever I traveled.

I'd love to see MOD make this with a blade length of 4" . A great all around EDC, regardless. geegee

I have a satin plain edge trident, and love it. I have that and a Microtech UMS auto, most people who play with both my knives pick the Trident as their favorite.

I'd love to see the trident with a 4" or 4.5" blade in S90V
