Searching is difficult on this so you don't even have to answer my question, but point me where to best find this info here or elsewhere. Any direction is appreciated. :)

The one that i love is the John Lofty Wiseman
SAS survival Handbook

It has literally everything you need to know
from basic hunting + snares, edible, poisonous, fire-making, constructing various structures, knots, and so many other essential things.

The book is amazing!

Bushcraft by Mors Kochanski. It's the Bible!!

Better yet take a class or two then read these books to supplement your learning. Best suggestion anyone ever made to me.

Can I ask what you mean by "wilderness survival skills"?

Are you looking for extended wilderness "living" skills, or "keep me alive until I'm found/rescued" skills?

Bushcraft by Mors Kochanski. It's the Bible!!.
This is good advice, Mors has been teaching bushcraft for 250 years, he is the titan. Whenever I am in a situation that I don't know how to get out of, in the bush or in life, I ask myself "What would Mors do?"

For the oft-overlooked mental side of survival:

Deep Survival: Who Lives, Who Dies, and Why by Laurence Gonzales

Examining such stories of miraculous endurance and tragic death—how people get into trouble and how they get out again (or not)—Deep Survival takes us from the tops of snowy mountains and the depths of oceans to the workings of the brain that control our behavior. Through close analysis of case studies, Laurence Gonzales describes the "stages of survival" and reveals the essence of a survivor—truths that apply not only to surviving in the wild but also to surviving life-threatening illness, relationships, the death of a loved one, running a business during uncertain times, even war.

Thank you so much for the suggestions! I'm saving up for a class or two, but try to practice what I can in my back yard :). I'm doing a bunch of contract work, but need something permanent in a sense before I feel financially Ok to spend that extra cash. I appreciate anyone else sharing their thoughts on good survival/skill books.

Horace Kephart's book on woodcraft and camping is one of the better ones I've read. It is about as useful as any I've seen.

The book by Nessmuk (George W. Sears) is brief but a classic. Worth a read once in a while.

Both those books are old, but have good information and with a little sense can be adapted to modern equipment and materials very well.

Ok, so I ordered Bushcraft by Mors Kochanski

I like/have Lofty's books and Cody's as well.

I'm keeping the suggestions in a word document so that I can eventually grab up all these good reads. :) Thank you!

Primitive Wilderness Living & Survival Skills by John McPherson
Bushcraft: Outdoor Skills and Wilderness Survival by Mors Kochanski

and

a few true survival stories
Adrift: Seventy-six Days Lost at Sea by Callahan, Steven
Skeletons on the Zahara: A True Story of Survival by King, Dean

I have entire bookshelves full of outdoor living/survival books and keep going back to one of these THREE!

98.6 Degrees Fahrenheit by Cody Lundin
Bushcraft by Mors Kochanski
SURVIVAL: A Manual That Could Save Your Life by Chris Janowsky

You don't find any better than these three!!
