  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

Criteria:

$150 or less
Single Occupant (room for my pack and 5'9"/220lbs)
Small
Light
Waterproof, bottom well sealed
Only needed for 40F and above

Drop some knowledge on me guys, you're advice always works.

For a tight fit, I'd say a pop up tent, I'm 5'9" as well and I had one, very light, I had to sleep diagonally in it, but this was back when I was about 180 pounds.

J Curd,

Wait for an REI Garage sale - and get a T2 (made by REI). They fit your bill - and I always see them selling for your price range at the garage sales. You may have to repair the fly (usually small tears) but it will be WELL worth your work.

Slumberjack bivy tent. I love mine.....

It can be had in your price range if you look around.

Big Agnes Seedhouse 1:

$125
~3lbs

You can use just the mesh tent or the fly and foot print, or just the fly or all three.

REI Half dome- Amazing tent, and can be had sometimes for $80

I don't know if they're still in production, but the Eureka Aurora 1 Lite is a pretty awesome little tent.

They're a bit more pricey than your specifications, but Tarptent makes some excellent singlewall shelters. I looked briefly on their products page, the Sublite is $179, and Contrail is $199.

+1 on the Seedhouse. It is my fastest tent to set-up.

+2 on the Big Agnes Seedhouse 1. I'm 6'2" and find it very roomy. It's well-made, easy to set up, and as light as some minimalist bivy type shelters. I can sit up and get dressed inside it with room to spare.

Stay sharp,
desmobob

For your price $150, I would go for a Hammock, try www.mosquitohammock.com, much better than a single person tent, lightweight, quick to set up, can set up anywhere you have trees, so you do not need flat or even dry ground, will keep you dry, can set it up on flat gound in a pinch if you run out of trees, and much more comfortable to sleep in, you will need a thermarest or another mat type thing and a sleeping bag but you need that in a tent anyway.

Sierra Designs makes a great little one man tent called the Light Year.

REI has it for $169, but I bet you can find one cheaper with a little searching on the net.

I've had one for 6 years and it has held up well. Easy to pack, set up, take down and durable. It's great in the summer when you want to keep the bugs out and so far it has kept me dry in torrential rain.

hey bro I have a seed house 1 I will sell ya. it has only been used twice. I'd let it go for 100.00. just because it's for a forum member
