Hey guys, I'm learning knife anatomy in hopes to one day open a knife sharpening business. There are some knife parts who's names I don't know the meaning of. Can you guys tell me the meanings or origins of any knife part who's name isn't self-explanatory? I'm looking for any part, for example a Wharncliffe point. I'm having a hard time researching this topic as most people just discuss the functions, but I can't find all the functions. Any part you can think of is welcome.
I'd also like the reason for the part. For example, "the reason for the tanto point is it puts more steel behind the blade." or "the quillons are so the knife doesn't slip out of your hand when pulling through"
I've studies knife anatomy sites and found a lot of information, but couldn't find everything.
These may be dumb questions, but I'm having trouble, and your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the help guys,
Bo
