4 October is a national holiday in Germany, basically equivalent to July 4th in the USA. This year I decided to spend the day in Saarbrucken, where despite the rain they were holding a 3 day festival. All the parking and museums were free, and as always there was plenty of food. But I thought you might be interested in these swords and knives, on display in the local history museum, mostly from an archeologic site dated back to 600-625 AD.

Thanks for sharing these! Interesting that the sword seems to be missing both the lower guard and half the upper guard. The implication might be that they were both made of some sort of organic material. That's also an extremely robust sax! Vielen dank!
