So I recently ran into a lot of poison ivy on a hog hunt and am now reaping the consequences of my interaction with it. Now my question is, any suggestions on getting rid of all the oil residue on my ar? It must have come in contact with the oil as my arms are covered. Just use rubbing achahol and wipe it down? Any suggestions would be great as I'm fairly hypersensitive to it.

Thanks,

You couold boil the whole thing in detergent and washing soda [DON"T USE WS WITH ALUMINUM !! } The poison ivy oil is fairly durable .The deterent isused to break down the oils .After boiling use gun oil immediately .

A lot of the country stores around here sell a special soap that gets rid of the poison ivy oil almost instantly. I recommend every woodsman carry it. You should be able to wash down your weapon with it, and as Mete said of course, oil it down afterwards.

Rubbing Alcohol will work but you'll need a lot and isn't the best.

I suggest Tecnu, the best in PI oil removal...

I've heard that Tecnu works well. Never used it. Hot water and soap (dish detergent to remove oil kind) should also work.
