Let's see your PVAMS!

For those that missed it, the PolarVortexAnniversaryMeanStreet (PVAMS) was a limited Ganza-style batch of un-coated AMSs with "Frost" G10 and two snow flakes. This run was limited to 20 pieces--the first 20 emails after 9:00p.m. EST landed a knife.

Wow, this thing is beefy! This is the thickest blade that I have in this size category. While the edge is very sharp, the tip is actually kind of rounded. Is this common?

Here are the specs from Busse:

Blade Length:
3 1/2"
Blade Width: 1"
Blade Thickness: .155"
Overall Length: 8 1/4"
Grind: Full Height Flat
Steel: INFI
Hardness: 58-60Rc
Blade Finish: Satin
Handle: Wintery Frost G10
Availability: Ships 1-3 weeks

This is the story that explains the limited number of Polar Vortex AMSs:
______________

"Nobody is exactly sure what happened here. . .
Could it have been the weather???. . .
Could it have been the Polar Vortex???. . .
Could it simply have been the Johnnie Walker Blue?????. .
Something caused these G10 Handle Slabs To Turn A Mysterious Color!!!

This mystery is shrouded in. .. uhh. . . ummm . . .. mystery!!!!

Here's the story:

A pile of solid tan G-10 was transported to the shop in the back of our pickup truck from our warehouse during the "Great Blizzard". . . .
This morning a single board was discovered lying outside of the back shop door. . .
frozen in the polar-like tundra. Apparently it had been dropped and lost in the snow and ice for the past "2 weeks". . . . .

With temps hitting -15 degrees and wind chill factors in excess of -40 degrees this board received its own ice age cryo treatment which appears to have turned its veins to an icy aqua color!!!!!!

Garth ran it out on one of the CNC machines and it yielded only 20 pair of Anni Mean Street handles before it froze all of the coolant and destroyed the machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, here we are with ONLY 20 Polar Streets. . . .
They are marked "1 of 20" with 2 snowflakes . . . .
They are Super Rare!!!!!. .
and Super Cool ! !

Regular price would normally be $347.00

Special cabin fever price on this EXTREMELY Limited Polar Street $327.00"

I took mine out to play in the snow. The green lines in the white G10 remind me of pine needles poking through a fresh snow.

Congrats man!

I'm pretty sure the tip being rounded is a product of the blended convex zero edge being applied with a slacked belt sander, they tend to round the tip off a bit….

Thanks! That makes sense about the grind rounding the tip. This is my first piece of INFI; I'm an addict...

Thanks guys!

English please :D

A "zero ground saber" means that there is only one bevel on each side: the primary bevel goes all the way to the edge, and there is no secondary bevel or micro bevel.
A "convex grind" means that the knife was ground on a slack belt on a belt sander. This means that the edge is rounded, like U instead of V. A convex edge is the opposite of a hollow grind.

Zero ground saber: V
Convex grind: U
Extreme example of a hollow grind: )(

When these are merged, you get what this knife has: a convex grind that goes all the way up the blade and all the way to the edge.

Now what is interesting is that Busse says that it has a full-flat-grind.

It is a full flat grind, it is the edge that is convex and blended into the full flat grind. The zero part of the edge refers to the fact that there is not a distinct point where the edge and primary grind bevels come together, they are blended into one another to appear as a smooth convex radius without a 'shoulder'.

Full flat grind with a zero convex is great blade geometry, these little guys perform great for a variety of tasks. I know, it all sounds very technical….. sorry.

You're right. I just looked at the blade profile again, and it is a FFG, but convexed around 1/4" from the edge. Thanks for pointing that out!

Awesome pics! I love to see Busse knives AND bacon  I think that is a wonderful combination :D

Very nice ! Congrats and welcome, nice pics thanks for posting them. I sat that one out, it wasn't easy.

Thanks! Bacon + INFI = :D:highly_amused::congratulatory::thumbup:

Here are some sheath pictures. Thanks so much to J&G for the awesome GAW!

The leather belt loop is actually a very dark blue. It is beautiful with the sun on it!
