Hi, I was hoping you guys over here in the Spyderco forum could help me determine if I have a counterfeit Police 3 G10 or not? Does this look right to you all? Sorry if this is in the wrong place.

Looks pretty much like mine. What bothers you about yours?

The only thing that doesn't look exactly "right" to me is the shape of the tip but this may due use to hard use and less than skillful sharpening that the blade appears to have suffered.

Thanks, I am unnerved because the box had a weird "edge u cation" paper in it for a Delica/Endura with some spelling and grammar errors. The box itself seems legit, but the paper is weird. Its used, so I am hoping that the paper being there is just a mistake from a prior owner and not a sign of a counterfeit knife.

Well, the flyer appears to be for an Endela NOT for a Police 3 and there are spelling/grammatical problems w/it that would normally be a "red flag" if that's knife you bought but you didn't buy that knife.

-------------------------------

Generally speaking, there are a couple of things that are tip offs for a Spyderco fake:

1) the lettering/spelling/etching on the blade and
2) the color/lettering of the box and the accuracy of the bar code label on the box.

The most important thing to me is the bar code label which I haven't seen faked yet. Generally, fake boxes will not even have a bar code label on them.

I will buy Spydies w/o boxes but, whenever I buy Spydies on eBay, I always ask to see the bar code label, if available, if it has not already been shown in the listing.

What does the label on your box look like?

-------------------------------

However, even if the box is fake or generic, that doesn't necessairly mean that the knife is necessarily fake too.

As far as I can tell, the lettering/spelling on the blade looks correct; the jimping (also a tip off) is accurate as well (8/13 indents on bottom/top) and chamfering on top of the blade and positioning of the edge of the flat grind at the bolster look correct as well. No obvious problems w/the handle jumped out at me either.

-------------------------------

The only thing that doesn't look right to me is the tip which may have been broken/reshaped. My blade measures 4 3/8" from the tip to the scale.

What's the length of your blade from the tip to the scale?

Mine has a 4 and 3/8 inch blade exactly. It was sharpened by the prior owner.
The label on the box is a sticker.

So, the blade appears correct in terms of length, lettering and other details

The bar code label looks correct too because 1) the model # is correct, 2) scanning the bar code return the correct knife model on the Net and 3) the date code (KL) indicates that it was made in Nov 20112, which is also correct for a Police 3 which was made between 2008-2016.

So, just throw away the Endela flyer which is NOT correct and enjoy using/carrying the knife. :)

Thanks so much for your input! I appreciate you going through the effort to help me out. Now that I have gotten some unbiased input I can say that I thought it was most likely legit when I got it due to how nice it is honestly. If it is a fake it is better than some actual Spydercos I have handled haha. Plus the seller was great with good long term feedback on here and was very helpful, not shady at all. That paper just weirds me out though. Ive never seen anything like that before.
I am waiting on what Spyderco says, since I sent them some pictures, but I think it will probably be positive confirmation.

If anyone else sees this, feel free to chime in please with any and all input.
