I received my Spyderco Police 3 G10 today.I inspected the barcode on the box..correct.Blade was in bubble wrap...correct....dense foam smaller than bottom of box....correct.The knife had the correct fasteners so my paranoid fears of a counterfeit vanished. The blade centering was perfect...grind perfect. The edge is excellent...much smoother finish than my 175 dollar g10 folder from another company. It shaves very well and the bare spot on my arm looks silly. The action was very stiff...I loosened the pivot and applied hoppes gun oil to the lock pivot as well as the main blade pivot.Much better...but centering changed...it is off 1/2mm so not perfect but very good...and better than the other brand folder I have with the G10 scales.Zero blade play in any dimension.Perfect grind.Incredible G10 scales...

So wheres the value? I paid with taxes and all over 150 for this knife...and it makes my 175 dollar folder in S30V look like a toy.I think it should not be called the Police. It should be called the Professional. The overall package is epic and so totally fills my every desire in a folder it is incredible.
There is a certain quality, an ineffable something I have been searching for in vain for years.

This blade fills it.

Of course this is good news...on the downside I will be buying some more Spyderco's...the Manix 2 XL is in my future.

Oh to answer the title of this thread?Spyderco....that's where the value is.

I understand that aesthetics play a role and some will disagree with this post. But to me this new blade is absolutely magnificent...and it is not too big either. For me it is the perfect size.I am just a hair under 6'4" and 200 lbs so I am in fact a very big man.I laugh to myself when other reviews of this blade comment on how big it is.It is legal where I live...and I am very sorry for those who can't carry it where they live.

To Sal and co...Great job.Epic in fact.Thank you for making such a superlative tool.

It's freaking EPIC!!!!!!!

Carpenter's Rule = 'Measure twice, cut once.'
Chris Reeve Knives' Rule = 'Think twice, cut once.'
Spyderco Owner's Rule = 'Think once, buy twice.'

Too true. However I suspect I will be buying for some time...

The epicness never gets old!!!!!!!!!!!!!

VG-10 Blades are the easiest counterfeits to spot because real VG-10 steel has an unmistakable luster to it. Unless it's DLC coated or something.

this x1000 VG-10 has an unmistakable sheen to it compared to other steels.

Also this post is worthless without pics :) I've been wanting a police for a while but haven't pulled the trigger yet.

I am frustrated trying to post pics from my tablet...it keeps asking for a url. When I can figure it out I will post some.

Pull the trigger BTW.This is the highest quality folder I own.It makes my expensive folders with "unique" locks look like toys.It has a very serious and professional feel to it.The lock up is fantastic and the solidity in hand is remarkable.Pictures simply don't convey how superior it feels in hand.
I removed the pocket clip (I never use them) and the improvement was remarkable. The scales are perfect and the knife fits my hand wonderfully.

I bumped my knuckle on the edge last night...I thought I was not cut at first.Sacrifice accepted! It stopped bleeding quickly but it seems a tradition to get a bite from a new blade.

Now you need to add the Police 3's twisted sister to your arsenal.

Spyderco Ulize.

I purchased my first Spyderco a little over a month ago. A Delica 4. It's not a pretty as some of my other knives. It's not a knife that I sit and play with the "cool deployment" feature. It is a knife that as I have used keeps getting put in my pocket every morning when I head to work. It's not over built to the point that I can't reasonably use it for work tasks. It just works. So much in fact that I just ordered another Spyderco. These are great knives. And I regret that I put off this brand for so long. So congrats on the Police. My it serve you long and well. :)

Thanks SFW!I used to have some old Enduras but they were stolen. They were the biggest bang for the buck folders ever!
The Police is my first premium G10 Spyderco.I love it so much I want more steel liner G10 offerings from them.

But my trust in Spyderco started with the FRN handled Enduras.Great knives.
