It's been a few days since the new Police 3 is available. I was wondering, could anybody shot a few pictures of it ?

I would be especially interested in comparind the knife to Military.

How would you rate the tip strength comparing to Millie ?

It is over the legal length to carry here in Kansas, so I'm not in a really big hurry to get one. When I do, I'll be happy to take some pictures with a Military or two.

Not my pic, but here ya' go.

I always wondered why the Military is a liner lock. Is the liner lock stronger than the backlock on the Police?

Well I think, back then when Military was new, liner lock was hyped as stronger than backlock. This might still be true, IF you just lock the blade in vice and hang more and more weight on the handle - then the liner lock will hold more weight, but it is weaker to pressure from the side in real live.

From what I've seen posted:
Spyderco's compression-lock is their strongest, though the original Chinook's front-lock may have been the absolute strongest. Spyderco's front-lock is stronger than their liner-lock, depending on the model, but Spyderco's liner-lock, specifically the one on the Military, is no slouch!

P.S. I'm pretty sure Spyderco's ball-lock rates just under their compression-lock.

The Police has always had a lefty-friendly lock, and now with its four-way clip option, it is truly ambidextrous.

As one of the sinister people, I am overjoyed at this latest version of my favorite Spyderco model.

I do miss the punyo design of the original Police; that nice window-breaker and shiatsu tool. The new one has a more rounded "rear end."

No, but it is lighter. That was one goal for the Military model, to keep the weight to an absolute minimum, and Sal said he can make a liner lock lighter than a backlock the same size.

The police design avoided everything I hated about the military.
I cant wait for mine. That is one sexy knife.

The police3 does not have:
the huge butt.
the too pointy point
the liner lock

Great handle to blade ratio

What can I say.

....and be sure to get a top view of the tips to show if it's thicker at the tip than the military :D.

Finally something to compete with the Mili in terms of edge length. This one might actually stand a chance as EDC over the Mili (if only there were a ZDP-189 version).

As stated in my mini review of the Police 3, I am a Spyderco Military Man, Just a few thoughts after carrying and using the Police 3 for a few days. FYI my choice now out of all the MilitaryModel is the BG-42 version.

1. I like the Police 3 and I will carry it at times, but for me it is not a replacement for my BG-42 Military, just does not have the cutting, yes cutting and edge holding ability that the BG-42 has.

2. Looks and feels great, may edge out the Military just a little in those areas.

I will say that I have only been carrying the New Police for a few days now, and again I like it and will carry it at times, but it is not a replacement for Military.
