Am I the only one who prefers the Police 3 over the Military? :o

I constantly see recommendations made in favor of the Military but never any for the Police. Their both big bladed knives with big differences in construction. For me I prefer the slimness of the Police along with the lock back design.

Just thought I would ask. :)

While the Police is a great knife, I vastly prefer the Military. I use my Military pretty hard, and the open back really helps clean out dirt and guts. Also, the liner lock is much simpler (way less moving parts, lighter) and easier for me to close and put away one handed. Plus the little bit of belly on the Military helps with skinning and even food prep stuff. And lastly, this is only preference but I really prefer Spyderco's S30V. I have no problem putting a polished, hair whittling edge to it, and it seems to hold up better than VG10 for me.

Are the liners nested on the Police 3 like on the Military?

Oh yeah, here's a pic to match the Police up top:

Nope. I like the Military. :) Thicker blade, needle point, better ergos on the handle. It's quite thin already.

I like the P3 over the Millie, but I love the steel sprint runs that have been put out in the millie over the years.

Would I love a BG42, S90V, an CPM M4, or CPM D2 Police 3? I suppose I would. I'll take what I could get though. I do hope to see a 3V millie someday besides the tuff. A CTS B75 Millie, Oh man, a 52100 or O-1 millie....... I'd better stop. I'm getting drool on the keyboard.

Yeah, I get carried away with the impractical, and unlikely. The Millie has really served well as a showhorse, and rarely is it criticized because it is so well balanced and light but strong for a large knife. There have been some pretty darned good variants too.

The Police 3 has been less spectacular but it has been through a steady improvement. The P3 is about perfect as I see it.

The P3 has been my favorite folder since it arrived over a year ago. It fits my hand better than anything else & it packs a 4 1/4 blade into a very slim package that carries like a much smaller knife.

I don't own either, but I can tell you that I would go for the Police model. Liner locks are my least favorite type of lock. That's just my personal preference.

52100 is similar or the same as 9v? and im anxiously awaiting the tuff, but being a military fan i would love to see a 3v variant as well.

not quite.

cpm 9v is a very alloyed non stainless tool steel with huge amount of vanadium, 52100 is a simple carbon tool steel.

I had both. Sold the P3. A little too thin to suite me. I did like the P3's lockback lock better than the Millie's liner lock though!

welp i just bought a new p 3 fr 115 bux -- delivered to the door.. i think that was about as low a price as they come......

Between the two, the Military feels much more refined to me. In addition, I'm not a particularly big backlock fan so the Military gets my nod.

The Military is a much more robust folder. It just really feels good in my hand.

I much prefer the G10 P3 for my EDC. Lighter, thinner and a better slicer for my uses. I have no trouble opening and closing very quickly one handed. I have big hands and press the lock button with my thumb while my forefinger is in the spydie hole, get my fingers out the way and swing it shut.

I carry the P3 anywhere, not so the millie.

I didn't like the lack of a lanyard hole but it doesn't bother me now.

VG10 works well for me, I would pay a couple hundred for SV90 though :)

The millie is awesome too of course and heavier duty if you really do need a beast.
