National Police Chief, wife, and bodyguards shot by several suspected Maoists.

Sorry, but no printable comments have come to mind yet. Guess whatever you want to think I'd say and it probably be less vulgarian and offensive than my real thoughts on this.

I'll let Uncle say something if he wants to. It'll probably be purple prose anyway. ( Maybe the Lama's English lesson will be put off tomorrow. Kind of makes you wonder what kind of English an old tin can sailor like Uncle is teaching the Lama, don't it? )

I think I may have met Mr. Shresta once. Affable Newari fellow, civil servant and no more crooked than any of them. Needed a police report for Yangdu to show that she was not a convicted felon and he was the man which supplied it.

These Maoists are not going to quit and it will not be easy to get rid of them. On a personal level they are screwing up my travel plans which I don't like one bit.

if our government thinks that the only thing needed in Nepal is money? Gorilla tactics are hard to defend against at best and money alone will not do the trick.

Money is always our first response. It never gets where we want it to go and never does what we want it to do.

Shucks Uncle Bill, awhile back I would've said that place, ie maoist, needs a person of my disposition. I used to take the fight to the enemy, not set up a defensive perimeter.:D
