First of all, I regret selling my C07SE last year, it turned out to be the best Self Defense knife that I've been played with. And I am planning to buy another one.
I currently can't decide which edge I should get, PE or SE. So I need some input from you guys.
The knife will be mainly for self defense, but I will definately carry it everyday and use it for other things, e.g., peeling apples. I don't own a sharpmaker right now, but I am pretty good at freehand sharpening.

I don't know about self defence, but peeling apples and sharpening is ofcourse easier with a PE Police.

Well, plain edge might be better suited to everyday tasks and would be easier to sharpen without a sharpmaker. Mind you, I've got a combo edge Police and really like it - then again, I've got a plain edge and a fully serrated version too. I couldn't decide either...............

Since you are looking at the Police model as a "defense" knife, get the fully serrated blade, but also get a plain edge Delica to use as a "utility" knife...That's the combo I carried for a couple years (before I discovered the Al Mar SERE 2000.).

Or if you can't afford to buy both the Police and a Delica, an Endura and a Delica would also be a great choice.

Plain edge, maybe in a G10 handle if it is going to be a self defense knife. I still want to get a steel handle Police and have some traction holes(indexing holes?) drilled into the handle. Maybe lighten the SS Police an ounce or so, and improve the grip. Just an idea. :)

I do not use a knife for self-defense, so I cannot speak to that, but I do not recommend getting a serrated knife unless you are buying it for a specific type of job that requires serrations, such as cutting carpet or PVC tubing. Otherwise, get a plain edge is my advice, they are ever so much more useful in general service and easier to sharpen.

Speaking of sharpening, I will remind everyone here of Sal Glesser's comment to the effect that one should never use one's se;f defense knife for an EDC. You need to reserve a knife especially for defense so that it will not be dulled by everyday chores when you need it.
