Hey guys, just saw a Police (g-10) I think, in a case, (did not hold it) very large plain blade, stamped police on blade and golden, colorado ect. under this, does not look like ones I found on web now, not sure what I am looking at but I think it is an older police model, has been in this knife store for several years, any help or info on "going price" or collector value appeciated, priced at 175.00 with 20 percent off. Noticed it had a solid spacer, looked to be g-10 between handles, thanks.

Hi There
I have quite a few Police Model now. The G10 with a plain blade is the later model, it should have a steel liner inside the handle. An excellent knife as auser. Sort of a pointy Military. The earlier G10 has the traditional shped blade with a swedge, it also has no steel liner in the handle. Don't know about price I usually pay around $120 US.

It should not have been marked golden Co.Are you sure it wasn't a Military?

Thanks for the reply, yes it was stamped or lasered into the blade, "police", and then under that it said golden colorado. It is a liner lock, but I did not hold it because the manager was busy and I thought I would go back and check, it was a plain blade, it really had a good curve on the blade edge, and the blade was very thick at top.
I am pretty sure it is several years old, because they move these knives very slow, I think because of high price ($175) and location of shop, hidden in the mountains, (kind of). I will search for a pic of one, but so far all the police models I have seen are not like it at all.

HHUUUMM sounds like a Military,I am stumped.
Where is this place?
What part of TN are you from?

robbie,
A picture would be great. Have you checked out the pictures at Ted's site? Plus I didn't think the police was a liner lock. Maybe it's a different knife altogether with a custom engraving done

Hi guys
just pulled my G10 police out of my collection. It has Japan Seki on the blade, Police engraved on the blade flat, a flat ground blade similar to a Mille but same profile as all other Police models. It is a lockback, the handle has a steel liner fitted inside (clip screws into it) and the clip itself is attached around the blade pivot. Blade steel is ATS-55.
Hope this clarifies things

Hey guys, I have an update on the "police" model I thought I looked at, I goofed, so sorry, it was a military. While looking at this knife in a cabinet, I did not look close enough

The rest of this story is that I am positive that under the name on the blade, stamped into steel, (not black) it also had Golden Colorado under the name on the blade, does this mean anything because all the military models I look at now has black lettering "military", (see link) with nothing under it ? Thanks for your help.

The Military is Spyderco's flagship model and has been so for some time. it is very popular with the denizens of this Forum, as a search will show you. They are made in Golden, CO, and stamped Golden Colorado USA Earth. The blades were, initially, CPM440V but now are of CPMS30V, a better chioce, so they say, for a knife blade. The Military continues to use Spyderco's ingenious and effective adjustable eccentric pivot with liner locking system. The eccentric pivot allows the critical blade tang/liner lock interface to be optimized for maximum effectiveness for the lock. The new Paramilitary, a somewhat smaller version, uses the MBC rated Compression Lock that I and many others love, but that some dislike. I would have a Paramilitary in a fast second were it available in a less than 3" size so that I might legally carry it in Washington, DC. BTW, Militaries have an MSRP of $173.95 but are availble for rather less at various internet dealers, including one owned and operated by Spark, the man who provides us this Forum.

Sounds exactly like my Millie.

Blade is CPM440V, has engraving:
Spyderco
MILITARY
CPM 440V Golden, Colorado USA

All engraving is on the left side of the blade in the flat grind. No other markings except the spidie symbol on the clip.

I can post a couple of pics. How do you do that here?

Mark.

I just checked my very early Military and the flats of the blade are not marked at all!
The only marking is on the tang and it says "SPYDERCO CPM T440V.

Spydieman, Yes, yours must be just like the one I have located, now if I can get him to come down on price ($175 and 20% off), this store has premium prices, but I have found several older discontinued brand name knives there, Example, "round hole benchmades", so thanks for the help.
I will be working on this deal because I think I may need one of these knives  .

Ebay has the S30V models for around 90.00
Heres a pic of the tritium tube I put in the spacer of mine.

Update, I got the Military I was looking at, CPM 440V steel, with Military and Golden Colorado engraved on the flat grind blade, left side. Price was $110.00 NIB, with zippered case (freebie) and papers included.
I think this was a fair deal, considering these seem to be kind of hard to find. The knife is a beauty, well made and even though I am a SOG fan first, I think spyderco makes a quality knife and well worth investing in. I tend to lean more towards older or discontinued brand name quality knives, and this knife certainly falls into that category. Thanks for all the help.

Thats a good deal. The ones with the Diamond ingraveing are getting hard to find.

u812, Diamond engraving ? What is this and how would a person know ? I looked at the engraving with a jewelers loope and it appears to be lots of little indentions cut into the blade to form the name and other info.
It is a very good looking knife whatever it is, I am glad I got it, but just can't carry it because it is so "Purty" :D What will I do now ? :(

Robbie Roberson ;)

P.S. some of the paperwork that came with it says 1994 ? Could this be right ?

Zrexxer, thanks for that cool pic, that is the exact engraving on mine except mine is the straight edge. Any idea on a date ? Also I noticed mine has the silver non painted clip, with 2 screws and a half cover over the hex screw. This is one cool knife and I am glad I found it.
It just brings a question up that might seem silly. I wonder why Spyderco does not make several models of knives with a larger hole in the blade for those of us who have larger fingers. I know this is like a million other "wonder whys" concerning all makes and models of knives, but I would think most people would rather have a larger hole any day if given the choice.
I just think this hole makes it so much easier and faster, with less slips out of the hole, and also enables me to actually flick the blade gently, using the hole similar to a thumb stud. I have a few other Spydercos and they open great, but I have to "follow" the entire motion of the blade swing carefully to ensure my finger does not slip out, just a thought.
