Police lock lever not flush?

I have two G-10 Police models, of differing dates of manufacture, that show a similar trait. I do not know if it is a problem.

The lock lever, when the blade is open and locked, is just shy of flush at the blade end. In other words, the lock bar protrudes about the scales by a tiny fraction of an inch - barely enough to see, more felt like a rough edge if you run a finger across the back of the handle.

They both lock up tight, no blade play in any direction. I have tested them by applying reasonable force to the spine of the blade against the lock, and observed no give at all.

Since I have two that show this identical trait, is it possible that this is due to design? Perhaps to compensate for wear over the life of the knife?

I'm guessing that this is normal. My G10 Police does the same thing. A friend with the same knife also has her lock protruding just slightly from the spine.
