Hello all!

I plant to buy a police model in december. But first i'de to know something:
What kind of work is the Police model specially made for?
Personally i would use it for my country house basic daily use; but i don't really know if it is really made for that kind of job...
What do you think about that?

Mandragore,

I have found the Police model to be a fabulous choice for a "generasl purpose" knife. I believe it was conceived as a daily use tool for the law enforcement officer, or something like that. It seems to do everything pretty well.

The Police model is an awesome cutting tool. It would not be a good choice if you were planning on doing any prying with it...but the majority of cutting jobs it handles extremely well.

I have a serrated and a plain edge and love them both. I've used the serrated the most to cut things like carpeting, boxes, Japanese straw mats, rope, heavy leather, my fingers, etc. etc.
The tip comes to a nice point if you need to pierce something, but I wouldn't use it to pry with, but pretty much, if you use a knife to cut and a pry bar to pry, you won't have any problems. I've never busted a tip. The knive does not have a lot of belly, so skinning some dead critter might not be the ideal task for it, but otherwise it is great.

I have one of the very early Police Models. Has Pride, Integrity and Guts engraved on the blade. On duty, I carry it attached to the velcro straps on the front of my body armor. It sits dead center, up and down the sternum. I've had the bad guys who tried to punch me break their knucles and fingers. In my pocket I carry the Merlin. It's good for seat belts or the big wire ties we use as spare cuffs.
I know it's a strange use for the Police Model but it's there as a backup if I'm in a bind. It really is a good all purpose blade with a leaning toward self defense.
