I have decided to purchase my first Police model, but cannot decide between the Carbon Fiber and G-10. I am not a fan of the SS, so it is not an option for me.

A couple of questions.

How old are the G-10 versions, ie. when did they first come out and when did they stop making them?

Was there ever a G-10 made with VG-10?

The G-10 is alot lighter, is it worth it to get a lighter model and not get VG-10, or sacrifice weight and get the Carbon Fiber.

What makes the Carbon Fiber so great? Other than appearance

Your responses will be the deciding factor

The carbon fiber is indeed better looking, by most personal tastes I would assume.

The carbon fiber scales on the Police are very thick, making an already strong medium even stronger. Carbon fiber is stronger than G-10.

The main disadvantage to carbon fiber is that it is slick. This may or may not be a problem in times of "survival." The G-10 scales are grippy.

The G-10 version of the Police features a flat ground blade, which might be preferable to some. Flat grounds are really nice in the kitchen.

I have a pair of CF Police and they are really nice. Well built and snazzy (did I just say that word?).

I would go with the CF version. The only problem is that you may have trouble bringing yourself to use it.
