Fellow Spyderholics -

Could you help me create a list of the different variations of the Police model - metals, scales, PE/S/50/50, coatings, shapes, locks, etc.?

Tufram, titanium scales, aluminium, square sided, PIG, black blade, G10, right/left handed, stainless, 50/50 edge, necklace, rookie, w/wo lanyard hole, w/wo David Boye dent, etc.

There are a lot of them - not counting the after market variations!

Much appreciated.

Bill

Coming stock from the factory, the only ones I've seen that saw much production were:

G-10, unlined, GIN-1 (first few batches)
G-10, steel liners, GIN-1
G-10, steel liners, ATS-55 (last production G-10 Police model)
SS, GIN-1
SS, ATS-55
SS, VG-10 (the only one still in production)

All of these are hollow saber ground, and come/came in PE, SE, and 50/50.

Beyond the full-size models, the Police Tie pin and Police Necklace were also produced. The tie pin was discontinued, but the necklace is still in production. There's also the Rookie, the Police's little brother.

Just to add to Liko's excellent post, I remember that my G-10 Police model had a flat grind blade w/o swedge, instead of the hollow ground-swedge design normally found on the metal-handled Police. I don't have that knife currently, but I think they only put the flat-ground blades on G-10 models.

Hawkbill, you're right. My G-10 Police has a full flat grind blade. A big reason I got the one in G-10.

Yeah, minor retraction. I just recieved a full flat-ground PE police with no front swedge, so obviously they can't all be hollow saber ground. I have seen pictures of a hollow-ground G-10 with swedge, so somewhere along the way they switched to full flat on the G-10 (possibly to reduce weight?). Add one more grind to the list. Full flat, and hollow saber. Anyone have a flat saber-ground blade on their Police?
