Just curious what everyone thinks of the police model, and if anyone carries it on a regular basis. I used to have one, carried it, and loved it, but have noticed on here that they are very rarely mentioned. thanks for any input.

I like the stainless steel version for its slim design despite some drawbacks. Although it is a bit heavy and can be slippery to grip, I find it relatively comfortable to carry. I personally don't carry mine often because of the serrated blade--the plain edge may be more practical for my use. Also, I prefer to carry something more discreet than the "flashy" SS. I just had to have one for my collection.

I also recently purchased a G-10 version which I like very much. It is light, discreet, and versatile. Plain edge, flat grind, ATS 55, G10 handles, with a newly designed black clip. Most other clips fit uncomfortably against my palm (I'm right-handed); the new clip has curves and bends in the right places for me. I have long wondered when manufacturers would design clips that enhance the user's grip as well as hold the knife securely in the pocket. Good job Spyderco!

To be sure, it's not for everyone: The blade could be viewed as "thin" by some users but I guess these Sypderco fans should instead be looking at a Military, Wegner, or other heftier design.

I have a stainless handled model with a plain edge. This knife carries comfortably, and it cuts like crazy. The Police model is NOT a pry bar, esp. due to the very sharp point area. But for a good-sized folder for cutting purposes it's hard to beat.

I've noticed the stainless handle version is rarely mentioned, but I've seen it carried in more pockets than the G-10 version. I like the G-10 one, but there's other knives I want to get for now. One of the benefits of the steel handle is it reduces pocket wear due to smoothness. A disadvantage is that when clipped to the pocket it's very obvious because the silver handle extends up a ways...that and the clip are very visible.

I carried mine for almost six months straight, now I rotate it into carry once in a while. The handle has gotten a few scratches through carry/use, but IMO that gives it some character.

I love the police model in G10. I had an aluminum one a while ago but sent it to my sister. she carries it now.

I've carried the same stainless handled Police daily since the mid '80s. It's cut everything from aircraft parts to coffee cake. It's starting to loosen up just a little and the serrations are getting a little short from repeated sharpenings. Hmmm... May have to get a G-10 Police... Or a Military...

I have been carrying a G-10 Police model for a few months now, and really like it. Got the serrated model for cutting all the fibrous stuff I have run across over the years. Even though the edge is annoyingly straight, it is a great utility blade.

I’ve carried daily a serrated Police in Blak-Ti for many, many years. It is a great all around knife. Strong as all get out, and just the right size for me. I have found that the Blak-Ti finish resolves the problem of the knife being too visible that several others have commented on. It’s to bad Spyderco discontinued this finish. Every time I find one at a reasonable price I buy it. You never know when you might need to replace a lost/stolen/broken one. (In truth I have never broken one but several have succumbed to “Sticky Fingers”.

I have been carrying an aluminum/tuffram serrated police model clipped to the front pocket of my uniform pants since Sal Glesser engraved it and sent it to me during the 94 World Cup security detail I was on. It's light, flat, and doesn't take up space on an already crowded duty belt.

I used to carry a plain Police with stainless handle, and I found it always usefull, practical and most of all strong. I also received a customized one from Blue Mountain Turquoise with Turquoise and Abalone on the handle and it looks fantastic. I think is one of the best models of Spyderco to customize.
