ordered a spydie police G10 handle w/serrated blade, and was wondering if they had metal liners (like a gunting does) or not...also wonder if they are discontinued now....

also any opinions, etc about it appreciated.....

thanks

FWIW the Police you described is my all time favortie Spyderco.

It has one metal liner, not two.

But it also sports a very thin blade which makes it a great cutter. If you were doing something to cause the knife to break it would be in the blade and not the single liner.

So, the one liner is just fine IMO.

I don't think it's being discontinued but I could be wrong. They just added the Boye detent one the lock so they're still making mods to it. Why change if you're discontinuing...?

Someone else may be able to confirm or shoot down that theory though.

Good choice, you won't regret it!

well i got it!!

had a millie, but wasnt just really crazy about it, was ok, but i like the police much better, a longer thinner blade, was kinda tight when i got it, but loosening up fine now, a very light weight yet long bladed knife imho, great for self defense imho, a great slasher and a good stabber

i never liked the aluminum handle version, the alum scratches up so easy, but i think the G10 will look great for quite a while - i kinda ordered it on a whim, got a deal, and thought they were discontinued, so went for it

it does have the boye lock, which is fine by me, have several older spydies w/out it, but i like it fine - i dont mind taking a moment more to unlock a knife, as long as no accidental openings, which imho would be rare on a police w/the boye lock

glad i did go for it, really like it, a great edc for tough use imho, another great classic spydie

why discontinue it and cont' w/the alum handle version??
