Police See Surge In Gang Attacks Using Machetes

that pissed me off, so I wrote them about it:

"In the following article, you describe a machete :"as thick as an axe and nearly as long as a sword"

Axes are at least 1/2 " thick, machetes are almost never thicker than 3/16".
Did you actually look at an axe and a machete or did you just pull that phrase out of your ass?

As long as a sword?
What kind of sword?
A short sword?
How long is that?

If you're going to just use your imagination when you write an article, why not compare the machete to an atomic bomb or a biological weapon, give it more "zest" ?

My brother is the Editor of a newspaper in America, so dont assume that I have no knowledge of what is and what is not BAD JOURNALISM.

You have a responsibility to the people to report accurately and objectively. Please do so.

BOSTON -- Police say they are seeing a surge in the number of gang-related attacks involving machetes, the huge knives that are a ubiquitous tool in rural Latin America, with blades as thick as an axe and nearly as long as a sword. "

We just had another incident today in Miami. The fire department responded to a call and a guy on the scene refused to let them work on the fire. He first rammed their firetruck with his pickup, and then started pelting them with dumbell weights. When the police arrived, he pulled out a couple of machetes and threw one at the officers. They managed to subdue him with a taser, and nobody was hurt in the incident.

Then again; police in London are chasing a serial killer who uses a hammer.

This wouldn't happen if they stripped us all nakked and looked us up in a nicely padded cell. But, nothing short of that would work.

N2 beat me to one of my favorite images- that the end result of this supernatural devotion to 'safety' would be a prison cell for each.

I was wondering if the writer had seen a khuk- I think he may have.
Being a writer and reporter and all, he probably didn't know how to 'research' it; so he just called them 'exotic'.

The most ubiquitious tool in Boston is the Liberal. Not the machete>>>>>>>> JOHN TROUT

True, true.

I noticed the writer's use of the word, and thought yet one more time we should KICK THAT WORD OUT OF THE DICTIONARY DUE TO OVERUSE

Really- sentence it to ten years of excomunication. Then it could come back as a good boy again.

...ubiquitious tool.

Classic stuff! I'd love to hear the response if they bother, Danny. I get a wee bit miffed when media pushes stuff so they can make restrict- er, I mean laws.

Danny!!! I think some kid just opened a window! Upercut time!

Q: What do ninjas do when they're not cutting off heads or flipping out?
A: Most of their free time is spent flying, but sometime they stab.

just because some newspaper reporter/editor are idiots doesn't
mean that anything is wrong with liberal ideas. Obviously these guys were having some circulation problems....let them ban machetes, not a lot of brush to clear in boston anyway as I recall.....won't do any good for long though, they just get kitchen knives, Ice axes, rock hammers, hachets, hammers or what about a good ol' 2X4. Just because you can write or edit text doesn't necessary mean you have a fully functioning brain....

kind of like equating all conservitives with nazis , doesn't hold water...........

Anything that can happen will.

Better hope Khuks don't become status symbols with Gangs. That would be real trouble. Hopefully, the prayers in each blade will steer them away from such ownership.

I've a friend who will not allow me to give him a khuk because all he see's is weapon. Too bad, I see a tool.

The Home Despots in my area don't sell machetes. :( I think the only place you can get those around here are at the military surplus stores.

Ball peen hammers are still available though.
